Will CovCath make it out of the District this year?

No, they should have a winning record.

Yes, I expect them to handle either Beechwood or Holy Cross. But if they draw Holmes they are done.

No, I dont think they have the talent. With a good draw they could win one game in the Region though.

Starters IMO- (and I am not close to program so give me somewhat of a break) Thelen-6'5 Wellbrock 6'4 Pauly 6' Robinson 6'1 and Maschinot (is he playing? thought I read somewhere he wasnt).

I am sure the Frosh will be good, they get the best of the best from the feeder schools and I dont remember any being awful. JV should be good too. Its a good program with good coaching and has just had a couple down seasons. They will be back in contention shortly.

Pretty good synopsis!. Only disagreement would be Connelly in starting lineup. If Pauly is going to start at the point then Connelly would give them more size and he is an amazing athlete.

 

My concern would be front line depth. If Thelen or Wellbrock are out for any time I think they will struggle.

 

I think they will be improved over last year but will be in that 9th region group of teams from 5-12 that will be pretty much interchangeable.

Will CovCath make a run at the Region? Hard to fathom the Colonels seriously challenging Holmes. Could, however, win a game or maybe even 2 in the Region.

I'd be surprised to see essentially 3 4s on the floor at the same time.

This team will play a lot of players which Coach L likes to do. I'd look for Thelen to be their "go to" guy but I think they will get points out of their D as well.

 

I see them having a solid year.

Will CovCath have a losing record like last year? No Not only do I think they have a better TEAM, I do not think there is anyway they will experience the same number of injuries and sicknesses. I also think the schedule this year is not as tough, seems like more big games are at home.

 

Will CovCath make it out of the District this year? Yes

 

Will CovCath make a run at the Region? This will be tough, but by end of the year, I really think this group will be playing solid TEAM ball, and should be very strong defensively

Will the Frosh/JV be battling it out for a NKy Frosh/JV championship? I am not sure JV will be quite as solid as last year. I think depth may be a problem as I think some of the JR's who would help are only dressing varsity, and I heard some of the sophs are not playing. Frosh will be solid at the guard position, but I think they may struggle in side.

Old spice Redzone guards with Ward and Frederick. Who would the frosh Bigs be? I dont remember any kids in the diocese league that had much size except a kid from Blessed Sac. Does the Bir (QB) kid play hoops?

Bir does play basketball and is a very nice inside/outside threat.

 

Murphy/Ward/Fredrick/Egbers will most likely be the 3 guard rotation.

 

This doesn't even mention the talent they are getting from St. Joe's Crecent Springs. They were one of the best 8th Grade Teams in the area last year. I believe they had a kid named Sawyer with decent size. Im not sure on all kids from St. Joe's.

 

I do know the biggest kid from St. Joe's went to Holy Cross. He had been a beast the past few years. But I don't know how much bigger he will get.
