Class 6A Playoff Preview

Featured Replies

I will be stunned if this game is that close. I would think it's much more likely to be a 4-5 TD Tiger win than it is to be a field goal difference. I have only seen X play once this season &, to be fair, have not seen SK play, but I did see them in the final v. T last year. Miles Simpson is a fantastic back but I just don't see SK being able to handle X in the trenches & give him any room to run...

I had the opportunity to see Simon Kenton play Ryle on Fox Sports, and I must say that the Pioneers were very impressive against a very tough group of Raiders. Their defense, offensive line play, and passing game are vastly improved from the team that lost to Trinity in last year's final, and they still have Miles Simpson who is even better this season. In addition, the run/pass prowess of Laurence provides them with an extra dimension which they didn't have before. If both teams do reach the Regional final, I think the Tigers will be hard pressed to get the win over Simon Kenton, thus the 3-point prediction....just one man's opinion.

Another good set of predictions, however.....if the following game ends up differently (by some chance) do you still think that the state winner comes out of that region?

Region 2 Final Prediction: Saint Xavier 38 – Simon Kenton 35

Later.

If Simon Kenton beats St. X., I think they will also make it to the finals by beating Greenwood and then get revenge against Trinity in the championship, bringing the 6A title back to NKY.

SK will probably have the best lineman on the field in Jordan Hansel. Very big, athletic, strong and tough. D1 scholarship in hand.

I think X is clearly the best team in the state for 6A and SK is top 2 or 3 in 6A.

The finals more than likely be Trinity vs region 2 winner, but that is a tought call at this point.

Simon Kenton isn't even remotely close to St. Xavier, that game will be over by halftime.

If your going by last years SK team thats a mistake. They are much Bigger and Faster this year. Simpson is even better than last year. And if you key on him their QB has thrown for over 1200 yards and rushed for over 800. That being said I still think X will pull this one out. But I will be surprised if it is not a close game. These are two of the best teams in the state. :dancingpa

A whole 1,200 yards? Stop the press.

The big boy championship has never been in NKY...it isn't going to happen this year either.

Looking way way way down the road if their would be a T. vs S.K. rematch the best thing for S.K. would be for T. to think this is the same team they played last year. :D Now that I think about it would be the same team. Almost all their starters last year were Jrs.

This year the BIG BOYS in the state are from NKY.:thumb: HIGHLANDS :thumb::thumb:

Ho hum.......Until I see them beat Louisville St. Xavier I won't be convinced.

Is it hard to see over all those sand bags?

A whole 1,200 yards? Stop the press.

To be fair, Krags hasn't had the kind of year Trinity QBs normally have stat wise.

You and I have have been embroiled in WWI styled trench warfare (which does require "sandbags" for survival) on BGP for too many years, Pep. :sssh:

However, I truly believe this about Simon Kenton. They are the real thing this year. :ylsuper:

The first round games are all now final, and so far the preview has correctly identified the winners. Manual vs. Conner was also projected to be the most interesting and high-scoring 6A game, and based on last night's results, it probably was.

It will be interesting to see how well things go in round 2.

This could be the beginning of seeing some upsets.
