Cooper should never have been permitted to play in this division. While they are a new school, their players are not new to football. They came up thru the feeder leagues just like everyone else. Cooper should have been given an opportunity to play with Highlands and Covington Catholic so they can determine what it is like to compete with the big boys. Beechwood uses 7th graders as starters at several positions.

Do you really care about this? I am a Beechwood fan and I am overjoyed Cooper was in their league. It was nice to be the underdog and face that challenge. Cooper fans are probably wishing they could have played the other big school teams but as a Beechwood fan, I want our freshmen to play some games as challenging as the Cooper games. The rest of the small school freshman league needs to step it up. NCC is good but the other teams all have a lot of room for improvement in their program.

It is nice to win all games you play. A team does not get better winning by 30 every game. VOR and I are on the same page on this. Why do you think the JV schedules HHS and Dixie 2 or 3 times each and the varsity plays the early schedule they have? It prepares them for what is down the road. In this years case it is a big and physical running back and team in LCA. That is if BW is able to win and get to the 'ship.

I am so sick of hearing about Cooper in the small div. Is it Coopers fault that some teams didnt match up to there talent? Cooper had around 33 kids on the freshman team and started around 13 (both ways) all year. I dont care what div. you are in, to go 9-0 is a great thing. Coach Borchers had no clue that he had this kind of talent in the freshman class. He only had around 10 kids show up for spring ball from last freshman class. Who bye the way didnt win but 1 game. Beechwood was a great team in 08 and i thought was very good this year. Hats off to them for that. I think people should ask why some of these teams were not very good this year! Why shouldnt Scott High compete with Cooper with the same amount of kids and is a established school.

It does not matter if your school has been open for 1 year or 10 years the players at each school are freshman playing against other freshman. I think Cooper has the largest freshman class compared to the other Boone County schools. And it was known prior just how large of a freshman class they would have.

 

Congrats to Cooper on a great season! I look forward to watching this class progress through the next few years and see how it translates to their varsity success. In a way it puts pressure on Borchers with everyone knowing that the talent is there, to do more than just be competitive because there is a good group of juniors and sophmores returning next year. Maybe the honeymoon period is over as far as expectations are concerned.

I'm not sure of the actual student enrollment for Freshman but as far as football players, Cooper had 33, I counted atleast 50 for Ryle and Boone and Conner had more than 33 I believe. I counted over 60 football players for Cov Cath and I did not get to see HHS this year so I'm not sure about them. Doesn't really matter at this point. I would put this group up against anyone in NKY and take my chances.:thumb:

I believe I saw in another thread that Cooper has 294 students in their freshman class.

Time for Cooper frosh to get out of the patty-cake league. They were good last year, and obviously could have used a better measuring stick this year. Congratulations on a successful season. Hope to see you next year!

I wouldn't consider Beechwood and NCC patty-cake, but to each their own. And, Scott County definetly is not patty-cake. The boys played who was on their schedule. Enough of that debate, on to next year.
