Interesting non-district finale.

 

3A North Oldham (5-4) vs. 4A East Jessamine (3-6)

 

East has struggled of late, losing their last three, including a 62-0 spanking at the hands of LexCath and a 48-0 whitewash vs. Boyle County. Two awfully tough games - both in the last two weeks.

 

East Jessamine's lone wins have been over relatively weak teams: Lincoln County (1-8), 2A Owen County (3-6), and Madison Southern (1-8), but - when comparing them to North Oldham's district foes - they played Western Hills close, losing just 8-0, and dropping a one-point decision to Spencer County.

 

North lost to Western Hills last week, 30-7, in Frankfort, but they walloped Spencer two weeks ago, 28-0.

 

Both teams make no secret that running is their game. East Jessamine throws the ball an average of only 5 times a game, and has less than 150 yards in passing total this year. North will throw the ball 8-12 times a game and has had much more success in that department, but still is about 80% run.

 

Who wins and why? How important is this game?

Would be nice to see North get some mojo going for a decent playoff run. Hoping to see some more of Norths second string QB thought he did a real good job in backing up our starter last Friday. Really has a nice arm and will be a good one to have back for another two years. He has been hurt all season no telling what might of been if he could have played all year.

Wonder what East field will look like this week?

Heard it was awful against Boyle County last week. Boyle even changed jerseys at halftime. Six weeks in a row in the mud.

From those pictures it was the worst that I have ever seen.

Field conditions at EJ will be sloppy at best.

How would you describe East's running game?? Do they have the ability to play power football??? Power football has the advantage on sloppy fields...

Yes East Jessamine can play power football. They are a running team much like North Oldham anyway, but not nearly as much motion before the snap.

My advice to North Oldham is to bring your hip-waders. It's pretty deep on the vistors side and a lot of towels.

I think they will need more than hip-waders. Try kayaks. Worst field conditions for a game that I have ever witnessed. There won't be much grass, except around the edge of the field (on the home side). Boyle even wore out the grass in the end zones.

EJ is a running team, but I wouldn't necessarily say they played power football, they may have thrown one or two passes the whole night against WH. However they are also capable of beating a good team if they get the chance to hang around.

Saw Western Hills play both teams.....EJ 28 NO 7

Much will depend on the North Oldham team that shows up - the one that was badly beaten by Henry Co and Western Hills, or the one that beat Spencer Co handily. The field at EJ was in VERY bad shape 4 weeks ago and had rain each week since. Since both teams run the ball, not sure it will hurt one more than the other. Neither team is a power running team, so weather/field might limit fakes and motion. After seeing both teams, I think NO wins a close game - 14-12.
