Time after time the good sisters have asked me how does CovCath get all their former students to donated monies to them year after year, and as I have told the good sisters time after time, it's because of the relationship that the students at CovCath have had with their school.

 

Don't downplay the fond memories and the fun of attending a state tourney for a group of students. The memories of fun you had, even if you weren't on the team are the lasting memories the grads of CovCath have of their school.

 

So you miss a half day of school, these young ladies will remember Friday as the day NDA took over NKU.

 

BTW if you have ever read any of my post, you have to understand how important I think getting a great education is, but sometimes, like this Friday, attending a sporting event as a group, is just as important.

Word is "no go" on the Sisters letting the girls out early for the game. My daughter wants a note to get out. Hmmmmm! Maybe by Friday, there will be a change of mind. :idunno: But hey, Saturday it's game on for the NDA girls. According to the paper today, they have a pretty good chance to win it all with previous wins over the teams in their way.

I can tell you that, from my experiences, my fellow Covington Catholic graduates still talk about their trip to the state basketball tournament at Rupp.

 

It is one of their favorite HS memories and still gets brought up a decent amount years later.

I have no dog in either of these discussions. However, I know several people who graduated from both Cov. Cath and ND. Cov. Cath grads have great memories in and out of school. It builds brotherhood. That brotherhood went well into adulthood with business contacts as well as support for Cov. Cath.

 

From the people I know, Cov Cath does an exceptional job of building unity among their students. There is nothing wrong with ND either, but I have never felt the same strong sense of unity in the people I know.

 

It is the little things that add up to the total experience. I think TOG is absolutely correct. I guarantee you that one of the reasons why Cov. Cath has such great support from the alumni.

If you graduate from Covington Catholic, chances are some (most?) of your best friends will also be a Colonel.

 

When those young Colonels grow into adults, they'll still be friends. When those young Colonels get a "big boy" job and start making money, chances are they'll still be hanging around with a group of CCH guys.

 

When one of those CCH guys gives money to the school, their friends follow suit.

 

My memories of Covington Catholic are not going to compel me to give them any money. I already paid enough for those memories. :lol:

 

But if I can give the school some money so that another kid can share the same experiences that I did and build the relationships that last a lifetime, then I'll do that.

 

It's clear on BGP and around the area that people outside of Covington Catholic have no idea what "A Spirit That Will Not Die" means. And quite frankly, I think that's a good thing. If the outsiders understood what it meant, then CCH would not have something as special as they do. Is that corny? Maybe. But it's 100% truth.

 

Here's to NDA letting their girls out early so that they can go & support their team and fellow classmates.
