I don't like Obama's policies, but unlike former President Clinton, I think our Presidents and former Presidents should be protected at all cost.

I disagree with the President on a great many things but the idea of threatening the president's life over such matters is absolutely ridiculous.

By the way, does anyone else wonder why you would even bother to issue a death threat? If you wanted someone dead, why tell them it is coming? Wouldn't make more sense to do it without warning them first so as to make your job easier?

I'm reading the book cited in the story. Light, interesting read.

400%!!! Wow!!!

I'm in total agreement with you, JD. They should be protected at all cost.

I don't get it, I mean, I don't like his policies or the way he's handling important issues like Afghanistan thus far, but to threaten his life or even wish him dead is just so bizarre to me. I will never understand the mindset of some, nor do I wish to.

400% sounds like a lot. However, I'm guessing we're using a relatively small number as a base so saying its tripled may not be as bad as it sounds.

With that, one threat is one too many. It speaks to our continuing struggle with race.

I'm betting it's not all just race.

To me, an assassination of the president (any president) would seem to garner sympathy toward him (and anger toward his opposition) from moderates and outright hatred toward his opposition from those of his party.

In a nutshell, it would be the absolute worst thing for the opposition party, even though they have nothing to do with it.

Because they are stupid and dumb.

Not soley. However, its probably the biggest factor in the increase.

I generally roll my eyes at any assertion of race. However given the fact that those who would actually issue the threats fit the words of LBBC, and individuals like that also tend to be racist I think it is a safe assumption that there are a large number of racists calling in threats for that reason.

Nah!!!

I would say it was because the liberals who hated W and wanted him out, don't believe in owning guns, so they had no way to kill him, so no need to make a threat.:D:D:lol::lol:

To me, racist comments are issued by dumb people that honestly, I have no use for.

And that is for whites saying deragotory comments on blacks and blacks who scream racism at every drop of the hat.

That sounds awfully similar to how I look at the matter. However I take it a step further and hope they never managed to reproduce so such traits are less likely to be passed on.

I typed, "and be spayed and neutered to prevent reproducing" but decided to take it out. :D:D:thumb::thumb:

Felt that might take the thread another way about government infringing on the rights of the stupid to reproduce.

Well it is infringing on their rights to reproduce, we just need to make sure that when they engage in their stupid actions an "accident" or two happens and solves the problem for us. :walk:
