Don't know much about the Lexington area teams, but always seem to have a tough time against the Louisville teams in playoffs. When will be the day when they get over the hump?

The Louisville teams in general, or just Trinity? The Lexington schools don't normally meet up with many of the other Louisville schools in the postseason.

 

From 2001 through last year, Lexington teams were 0-6 against Trinity in the semifinals. Scott County isn't a Lexington team per se, but Scott plays in the Lexington district and was hammered by St. Xavier in the championship game in 2004.

 

In 2000, the Lexington school were 3-1 against non-Trinity teams ... Eastern beat Bryan Station and Henry Clay beat Seneca and Eastern before being thumped by Trinity.

 

In 1999, Lexington went 4-2 against Louisville. Henry Clay beat Ballard 70-41, then lost 33-28 to Trinity. Bryan Station blitzed Eastern (41-8) and Fern Creek before beating Trinity 31-21 in the regional finals. The Defenders then lost 34-31 to St. Xavier in overtime in a wild championship game.

 

In 1998, the cities split two games. Tates Creek hammered Trinity 37-14 in the semifinals, then got thumped 31-7 by Male for the state title.

 

So over the last 11 seasons, Lexington has an 8-10 record against Louisville ... 3-9 against Trinity and St. Xavier and 5-1 against everyone else.

I can't see it happening this year against St. Xavier or Trinity.

Once people started getting film on HC they realized that they just try to out formation teams to get to the edge. I know they do more than run outside but they are not very effective doing much else.

I agree with what you have seen.

 

Henry Clay is very young in the skilled positions. Only two seniors usually touch the football. If their quarterback, junior Jerry Williams, can improve on his down field reads and passing, it totally opens up their offense package and showcases their skilled position speed. Junior Bo Brooks is a great talent with strength and speed at the running back position.

 

They will be very, very dangerous offensively IF (the biggest word in the English dictionary) this develops. It hasn't yet.
