I think that the parents should give the guy a chance! Most issues have been out side the field . You get that at any school new or old ! Borchers has done a good job from what i can tell . Give him a few years to get a program started. When he gets more than 9 seniors on his team then you can judge.

 

I have to agree. It gets frustrating when your team loses but IMO I have seen the players still playing hard. They are still young and should improve each of the next few years. I'm not sure of all of the off the field stuff and if those things are true I would hope Borchers would do whatever necessary to get on the same page with the school and all those involved. There are always growing pains with a new school.

Do most schools have there varsity coach and there assistants speak to the freshman coaches and players or go out of there way to look the other way when they come in a door? I hate to coach bash but from people I talk to they say that Borchers has told the freshman coaches not to be on the sidelines on Friday nights. Borchers told them that the varsity assistant coaches didn't feel right having them there. Mind you, the coaches that I saw from the stands "were not" coaching the kids but mearly standing on the track behind the action. You would think that the coach would want his lower level coaches learning how he does things. I have had varsity parents tell me that Borchers does not return e-mails or phone calls, that has to do with banquets and fundraising. There is a big mess with a program that didn't get done for football and that was an AD thing but no backing from the coach. Every varsity parent that I have heard feels sorry for this program and believes the freshman kids who are very talented are not going to be coached to be successful. There are so many more issues that Borchers and the AD have with this program that people don't realize. This school should do all possible to fix things before next season. The coaches should all be on the same TEAM and not be jealous over one being more successful than the other. The kids seem to get along just fine.:madman:

 

Most of what you are saying above I think is handled the same way by varsity coaches. They coach the varsity football team. Everything else belongs to the AD and the boosters. They don't want to talk to parents. Coaches do not have time to answer emails and phone calls from parents on any subject, unless it is an injury issue perhaps. The only thing I would question above is the freshman coaches not being allowed on the sideline during a game.

I have been in contact with the majority of the varsity parents, and they have all had nothing but praise about the direction of this program. I do not know where you get your information, but please make sure you get all of the facts before you start bashing someone. Borchers does the best that he can to respond to anyone that calls/emails him. I have been in contact with him at his house, you just have to learn how to be respectable. What coach in their right mind wants to respond to a parent that is yelling and angry about something a coach has no control over? The whole thing with the freshman coaches...Coach Borchers told the freshman coaches they could stand on the track right behind the sidelines, but there was in issue when the freshman coaches were on the sidelines, get the details before you start into something that you have no idea about. Also, it is very hard to talk with/mingle with the freshman players/coaches when they do not even practice the same time that the varsity does. Coach Borchers 1st priority is too coach the VARSITY football team, so if that means that he can't make every single freshman game, well then sorry, but tell me a coach again that makes it to Thursday away games that start at 5:30 or 6:00? I have not been too a home freshman game yet this year that Coach Borchers hasn't been too. I know I can speak for some of the coaches that do speak to the freshman players every chance they get. Also, I know of a varsity assisstant coach that ran the freshman weights and conditioning in the off-season because the freshman coach hadn't changed his work schedule around so that he could be at the weights.

 

The programs, ha, make sure you really find out all of the information about that before you bring that up. The parents and the administration are the one's involved in the program, and I think it was a very wise move for Coach Borchers not to get caught in the middle of whatever it is that was going on with the programs. And finally, as far as the kids not being coached to be successful on the varsity level, do you even know football? If you watch a game of Cooper's varsity this year, you will see the progress being made. Go watch a tape on one of their games last year. This coaching staff knows football, and loves the kids that they interact with. It is kind of funny to think that someone thinks they will not be coached to be successful, because why? Because Coach Borchers can't drop everything he is doing in his VERY busy schedule to make sure everything is in top shape for the freshman? That is why the freshman have their own coach, and they do interact with the varsity staff.

 

My last question...why would any staff at Cooper be jealous of another staff? The freshman kids at Cooper will be playing varsity football next year, meaning they will be Coach Borchers kids. Why would anyone think he would be jealous of them doing well? That entire varsity staff is thrilled with the job that the freshman team has done this year and gets congratulated for it after every win. Hopefully next year those kids will take that winning swagger with them to the varsity level.

Agree hja, I feel like some of the people that have been posting and complaining are expecting Coach Borchers to be some kind of a saint or something. He does the best he can to be attentive at every freshman function, but that is hard to do when he still has to coach a varsity football team, which is what high school football is all about. I hate to break it to anyone that is "die hard" about freshman football, but who cares? It is a gateway to varsity football, and getting these kids prepared.

It seems very obvious here that you have been misinformed about many of the problems involving the school. Please get your facts straight. It is rather annoying for people to get on here and bash someone when they have nothing to go by other than here say. You do a great job in all four of your previous posts to bash a guy who in my opinion has taken a program in the right direction. Hey Cooper is not quite where they want to be yet, but if there is anyone who can get it there in a good time it is Coach Borchers. Cooper Pride said it best. Look at the strides they have made in just one year, and furthermore the strides that will be made next year. It's a growing process. Programs aren't built in one night. You have a varsity coach to coach the varsity and a freshman coach to coach the freshman. That would be why they hire a freshmen coach. With that, I am positive that Coach Borchers has been to every Freshmen Home game, I have personally seen him there. In terms fundraiser's or banquets. Be assured that Coach Borchers wants nothing but the best for his kids. The guy has a passion for football, and building outstanding and role model type football players, that's what he preaches. So please get your facts straight and get off the guys back. :madman::madman:

Sorry if I said something that didn't sound right, I was in a hurry and probably didn't double check myself, but that is not what I meant. I meant that if you call him and be respectful and not demand answers and be rude that is more than cooperative with all who tries to contact him. I was simply stating that I have called him at his house before just to discuss things with him, meaning that he doesn't have a problem talking to a concerned parent, booster, etc. It is all about showing some respect, then you will get some in return. I am involved with Freshman and Varsity at Cooper . I think all the issues were with things outside the field. Both coaches have done a great job this year. Sounds like you need to talk to someone that knows what these issues are about. Most parents i have talked to are very happy with the whole organization.
