I saw this earlier and was debating it with a friend. The ONLY thing I see wrong with that is that it was waaaaaaaay before the ball got there. He could have taken his head off. But he led with the shoulder in to the shoulder.

Nothing makes me more mad then when I see a player jawing like that on the sideline after taking such a blatant cheap shot, like when Haynesworth cried and moaned after stomping on the players head.

Well the "only thing you see with it" is exactly why he will miss a game and some cash. You don't launch yourself into someone's gord while they're looking skyward and the ball is still a few seconds from getting there.

Not only that... but there were ten seconds left in the half and it was a completely meaningless hit. It's always hard to watch a player lay motionless after a hit like that.

I'll agree with the latter but not the former. Every play is important in the NFL in the first half (other than maybe Titans/NE).

Defend him all you want... and no I'm not saying that it wasn't important at all, but the fact that there were ten seconds left in the half and the Panthers were just trying to get the half over with adds a little bit to how cheap it was.

That makes no sense. It was a terrible hit.

He can cry innocence all he wants but that was definitely a cheap shot. He was looking to take a player out apparently. Horrible to see that happen to any player. Wesley needs to own up to it and move on, be a man and hold accountability.

That did not look pleasant.

The only reason it is such a big deal is because the player ended up injured. If he hadn't people would've said it was cheap but not the cheap shot of the year. Him hitting him that early with no signal for a fair catch is no different than Lewis getting there late on Chad earlier in the year. If Chad had been hurt people would've been calling for a suspension as well.

 

One positive I did see is that the Bucs have not given up on the season. It was great to see the team hold together after a rough season thus far and be ready to rip the guys head off.
