October 14, 200916 yr Big Bang is fine, but just like every other piano bar. If you have been to one and experienced it, you have experienced them all. Opryland is cool as far as the resort goes, but both rooms I stayed in were a dump.
October 14, 200916 yr Author Too far away, if you stay downtown you don't need a car to get to the games, eat or drink. I want to stay as close to downtown as possible based solely on the convenience factor. I actually just reserved a room at a place called The Hutton. It looks to be an extremely nice hotel that was just opened to the public and at the end of the day was actually cheaper than the Marriott and HI Express.

Big Bang is cool for a first-time experience, but nothing rocks like Tootsie's. You never know who is going to show up there!

You are nearby, but not necessarily within walking distance of the majority of the referenced bars and attractions.
October 14, 200916 yr We went to Nashville for our anniversary a couple of years ago and spent the night (I think) at the Embassy Suites. It was just a couple of blocks over from 2nd and easy walking distance. It was very nice and a great location.
October 14, 200916 yr I have just started looking. I figure the earlier the better, knowing how us UK fans are!:thumb: Ya that's for sure, I'll probably stay at the Ole Miss motel, but in years past there have been plenty of UK fans at all of them so I need to get on finding out where the team is staying.

I google mapped it and it is only 1 mile from the Sommet Center. That is really my biggest priority over the bars and other attractions. I figured a $5 cab ride would be well worth it.

I figured a $5 cab ride would be well worth it.It will be about a seven dollar cab. You'll need to eat while downtown because there's not that much close to the Hutton. Sommet Center is on corner of Broadway and Fourth St. Within yelling distance of Tootsies. Roberts Western World has the best musicans on Broadway. Jack's Barbeque and Rippy's are good places to eat. Demos' Steak and Spaghetti House is economical and very good. The Renaissance, The Hilton, and Hampton Downtown are the closest to Sommet Center. Hope this is helpful.

Another dandy to check out is the Bourbon Street Boogie and Blues Bar (at least, that's what I think it is/was called) in Printer's Alley for the Cajun food. Outstanding catfish.
October 15, 200916 yr We already have a romm reserved a few blocks from arena, but I don't know the name. I was not in charge of that department.

There is another group of bars and restaurants right around the corner from where you are on Demonbreun with a lot to do and it will not be as busy as the downtown scene if you want a change-up one night.

Thanks for the help! Also, I have checked a few of the hotels closest to the arena and there are no rooms available ALREADY. Everyone planning to go to the tournament needs to get their rooms booked asap.

That's down near the Exit-In and Music Row, isn't it?
