How come I never heard about Chad's book until now?

This is the most controversial thing I found...

"..how his own boss, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis, doesn't measure up. "[Lewis] doesn't have control of the football team the same way Belichick has control. No way."

Is any rational person really going to argue that ? :idunno:

I'm betting that's just the tip of the iceberg. Plus, book reviews published before the book's actual release date generally have an embargo on the excerpts that can be used in the review -- i.e., only excerpts from a select list can be used.

Right... but from the Reilly article, it looks like this is way more about Chad and other things than him and the Bengals.

I suppose we'll see in three weeks. All I know is that if I'm a Bengals fan, I'm dreading what he has to say, and am wishing he would've picked a better time for its release than smack in the middle of the season. Especially since this season has started out with such promise.

So, should I interpret Bengal Nation's relative silence on this matter as proof that it is absolutely horrified about the impact his book will have on the team's fragile chemistry? After all, I read several posts from yesterday's game thread indicating that Chad and CP "weren't on the same page."

You might want to give Bengal Nation longer than 1 hour & 10 minutes before you conclude that their "relative silence" means anything.

It doesn't matter to me.

Chad has always wanted to be in the spotlight. He has put up some decent numbers this season, yet he and Carson have not developed much of a chemistry. I expect that'll change as the season progresses.

The book won't affect the season in any way.

So, anybody got a copy yet and can give any details? I'm thinking of picking up a copy of it this weekend, but I may wait to get it and Agassi's book at the same time.

My buddy -- a Bengals fan, incidentally -- picked up a copy the other day and is plowing through it. He said he feels like he is getting dumber with each word he reads.

^How has the book not destroyed the Bengals yet? Isn't that what you saw coming?

Tell him he'll feel better by taking his kids to Johnson's day care center...

Color me surprised.

Color me surprised.

About the book... I imagine there are some funny parts, but it would probably be a tough read.

My buddy said he rolled through 100 pages like it was nothing -- that it was a very easy read. Probably not a lot of big words in there. :D

I'm not sure if I can believe either of the following...

1) You have a buddy.

2) The remote chance that you actually have a buddy, he can read.

OK, I've had this book in my possession for a month or so, but am just now cracking it open. It's actually pretty interesting and the ghostwriter does a great job of painting Chad as a figure deserved of sympathy.

What's killing me, however, is his glowing commentary about Ray Lewis. Specifically, Lewis' comments about how he feels obligated to be a mentor to Chad and other NFL players, which is admirable at face value. The real question is why Lewis feels so obligated. Maybe because he killed somebody, then rolled over on his homies to get out of it?
