September 28, 200917 yr In my best TV announcer voice... That's just Brett Favre being Brett Favre. Doesn't know the guy, just met him, and BOOM, flings a touchdown pass to him in the back of the endzone. You've gotta love his enthusiasm. He could play for another five years. The guys in Minnesota love him, because they believe he can take them to the Super Bowl. In my honest opinion... Truth be told, didn't he start 8-3 in New York last season only to fade down the stretch and miss the playoffs. I don't think that will happen this year, but it wouldn't be a surprise. And you just know there's a killer interception in him somewhere during the late season and/or playoffs. He did have a torn bicep muscle in his throwing arm for most of the end of the season. I think most QB's will struggle with playing with that.
September 28, 200917 yr I don't understand why you throw the ball 46 times and Peterson only gets 19 carries. He's averaged 17 carries per game the past two weeks after getting 25 in week one. Incidentally, Week One was when Minnesota looked the best, IMO. That's not enough touches for Peterson and that's too many pass attempts for Favre. A few reasons for that. First, Peterson is the best player in purple. He should get 25+ touches every week. Second, you have a 38 year old QB, who finished last season with a torn bicep muscle, that you absolutely have to have if you're going to the Super Bowl...do you really want to start slinging it 40 times a game in Week 3 and hope his arm holds up? I think this is something the Vikings better monitor and keep an eye on or they'll end up underusing Peterson and relying on Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels when it matters most.
September 28, 200917 yr For those knocking Favre, no way Jackson could make that play, on accident or not. This team is better with Favre at the helm, period. Are they a Super Bowl threat? I don't know. But no question they are better with him than what they had before.

I don't know. But no question they are better with him than what they had before. No doubt about that. But, I do think it would be a good idea to remember who the best player on the team is and call plays accordingly. They don't need to rely on Favre all the time. And, as I said earlier, I'd be cautious with him due to his age and last year's injury. I'd treat him like pitcher in baseball and monitor his throws. JMO If they can head into the post-season, with a healthy and relatively fresh Brett Favre, they have a good shot to make some noise. If Favre is worn down or injured or not playing at all, they're done.

I would want AP taking the bulk, but all I was saying is Favre is better than Jackson hands down, and no way Jackson makes that play. That play may give the Vikings an extra little swagger now.
September 28, 200917 yr If you have a torn biceps muscle and it's costing your team ballgames, then you shouldn't be in the game. So I guess Favre is the head coach of his teams to? I mean his coach knew he had a torn bicep and played him. I mean if your a ballplayer of coarse your going to try to play, thats the coaches job to make the decision not to play the guy.

Not sure what the results were.

Not sure what the results were. I mean the Jets already admitted that they knew of the injury, they just didn't put in on the injury report. Its funny that people think its Favre's fault for playing. I mean any player is going to try to play, its up to that coach to not play them if they can't perform as well with it.

I think the only people who said otherwise were allowing their hatred for Favre and his waffling the last few years to skew their words. I don't think anybody actually believed Minnesota would be better without Favre and with Jackson and Rosenfels.
September 28, 200917 yr If you have a torn biceps muscle and it's costing your team ballgames, then you shouldn't be in the game. It seems that the Jets did not want to report that as they were convinced they had no shot with those who were backing up Favre last year. Sanchez has been a great pick for the Jets. Tons of upside.

I will say this as well. Singletary has done an outstanding job in San Fran. They are a MUCH tougher team now and are playing very physical.
