I wonder if Skinpig can give us more details on this one. I did not get to attend as it was my wedding anniversary so my wife and I were out on the town.

I got to hand it to the Jaguars & staff. They came ready and had a plan. It looked like the jags forced Clay to throw the ball early by crowding the box. Clay couldn't get a string of completions and it was all down hill from there. Lots of turnovers and bad decisions. Clay looked dead on their feet and not at all enthused from the beginning. I saw a lot of head-hanging and bickering on the sideline. Clay needs to put this game behind them, the schedule keeps getting tougher.

 

Is there any way I can blame this on the refs? Oh! Happy Anniversary!

This matchup is turning into a pretty big rivalry game. The reason I say this is it feels as good or better to beat Clay as it does to beat SL!

 

Great job by Coach Larkey and his staff in preparing the Jags for this game. Both teams came out with different offensive game plans than they usually run. NL ran a lot of the wildcat offense with Wardrup, and Clay came out throwing the ball. It worked for NL, and didn't for Clay.

 

I hope/pray that the two Clay players that left the game will be alright, but I wouldn't be suprised if Hooker's injury wansn't season ending.

I thought Clay would win this game. They have a very talented QB and good RB's.

Talked shortly with Larkey and he said the Clay coaching staff were very good sports about the whole thing. Arnett is a very good coach who has done a very good job with the Tigers.

 

Thanks for the Happy Anniversary wishes, .... 21 years. Had a nice dinner, then after we got in the car, turned on the radio to get the score. Had to listen to the Clay County radio broadcast on 105.7. They kind of said what you said that North just looked more ready to play in this one. I picked North to win, but really thought this would be a VERY close game. But when Larkey said that the past 2 weeks they were really working on getting back to fundamentals which had dropped off a little bit in the South and Corbin games, I had a feeling that he would have them ready to play. Larkey really was impressed with the talent Clay has according to the paper.

 

Like Boucher, I hope the 2 Clay County kids who were injured are okay. I know it happens, but you always hate to see kids get hurt and can just hope for the best for them.

Coach Larkey is a Godsend at North. I believe he will do for North what Coach Mills has done for KC. They will always be fundamentally sound and physical. The Larkey and Hilton schools of football are proven commodities.

They focus on fundamentals and effort. Not a lot of fancy playcalling, just line up and see who wants it more. Chris has exceeded most expectations for his 1st year at North and will build a solid program at North Laurel.

 

Good comparison to Mills. I think the difference is that North had more talent when Chris took over than KC had when Mills took over. But you know what to expect when you line up and play them. Physical play. Chris has done a stellar job and as soon as the game is over, .. he reflects a little bit, then moves on to the next one. They have been a lot of fun to watch this year.

The common thread with Mills and Larkey is they teach their teams to be tough and execute. They do not try to overwhelm you with their genius. Their mentors Tom Larkey and Dudley have to be proud.
