ACORN Official Is in Hot Water

Featured Replies

Congress has investigated ACORN and published the report below in July.

http://www.capitalresearch.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/7-23-09-ogr-acorn-report.pdf

From the report (emphasis added):

American nonprofits generate $1.3 trillion in revenues, have assets over $2 trillion, and employ 15 million people.408 Nonprofits represent a substantial portion of the activities directed toward public service, a mission obstructed by the fraud of groups like ACORN.

On the basis of this Report, the legal protections distinguishing ACORN and its affiliates must be ignored because the ability to ascertain whether federal moneys are being walled off from ACORN’s political activities is impracticable. As a result, ACORN and its Council of affiliates represent a politically partisan lobbying organization. ACORN and its affiliates’ nonprofit exemptions and receipt of federal grants must therefore bear greater scrutiny.

There has been increasing debate over whether ACORN walks like a duck, quacks like a duck or it waddles like a duck. Our own United States Congress has made it clear - it is a duck - a political organization at its roots.

I do think its fair to ask "why now" when it appears these folks have had these tapes for a few months. It certainly doesn't excuse any act committed but it does seem fishy as to the timing.

Should get interesting. Hannah Giles, the female "prostitute", is an aspiring journalist and daughter of a Townhall.com contributor!

If its proven that they did , indeed, dub the video some folks are going to have some serious yolk to remove from their faces.

Interesting.

Senate votes 83 - 7 to stop housing and community grants to ACORN. About time.

1 member of Congress, I do not remember which one, is calling for investigation into ACORN activities, about time for this as well. Let's clear it up as to whether this group is a mob or a true community based organization. It will be a knock down investigation, for I believe there will be members of Congress who have a lot to hide. Let's find out one way or the other.

It seems the return shot has been returned to ACORN's side of the net.

The obvious question to ask would be "why fire the people on the tape if the tape was doctored?"

All you have is the quote of an ACORN official, no proof they were doctored, at least at this point. Let time tell the truth. What was doctored? The ACORN people said a lot of things to implicate theirselves. At this time I find it hard to believe they were doctored. The Senate does not buy the doctoring statement, plus ACORN has been removed from working with the Census Bureau as well. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for this money- grubbing, power-grabbing organization.

You are correct that there is no proof and only the word of the ACORN folks. However, I place ZERO importance on the fact that the Senate doesn't think its doctored. What would they know this quickly?

ACORN has thrown down the gauntlet. They need to step up and prove it or say they were wrong.

The film producer seems to want them to sue him.

I'm no expert on defamation laws but I'd think if the ACORN official was offering an opinion that would preclude a defamation suit.

This filmmaker should be jumping for joy. He's got Fox News promoting him on a daily basis and he's got his name in the paper for others to see due to ACORN.

He could not pay for this publicity.

I agree, but he baited them by saying I doubt they ever file suit. My guess here, and it's striclty a guess, is there wasn't any dubbing over of voices. If there were I think Fox News would have hushed this after ACORN said it was dubbed, and MSNBC would be pounding FN.
