Track The Reds - 2nd Half - Week 9

Featured Replies

Reds have some talent and could really contend in 2011 if they keep everyone, and they are healthy. They may have a chance to contend next year but it's more likely that they will in 2011.

Balentein is no where close to where Gomes is at but this is the kind of move the Reds always make and that is why we are where we are at every year battling with the Pirates for last.

The Reds blow one tonight and lose 4-3.

It was 2-2 until the 9th, when Scott Rolen hit a HR in the 9th to take the lead 3-2.

Rockies scored 2 runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th on an infield single. Seth Smith hit a grounder & Phillips awkwardly dove & couldn't knock it down. Went after it & wasn't able to even make a throw before Marquis crossed home plate (from 2nd base.)

Cordero gave up a lead off single to Barmes, then he threw 9 straight balls. He walked Jason Giambi, then walked their leadoff hitter. Then struck out Carlos Gonzalez w/ the bases loaded. That's only 1 out, but I know there were 2...can't think of how we got the 2nd one? Maybe another K? Anyway, Seth Smith hit a 2 run single. :irked:

From Yahoo! Sports

RHP Bronson Arroyo produced his ninth consecutive quality start Wednesday, and for the seventh time, he came away without a victory. In fact, he is 2-3 with a 2.19 ERA in those nine games. Arroyo gave up two runs and five hits over seven innings Wednesday against the Rockies, but the Reds lost 4-3.

Reds get swept by the Rockies, 5-1.

John Fay's postgame notes:

Final this under the ones that got away.

The Reds scored one in the first. Paul Janish walked with one out. Joey Votto singled, sending Janish to third. Brandon Phillips singled Janish home. Jonny Gomes walked to load the bases. But Wladimir Balentien and Adam Rosales struck out. Missed Opportunity I.

Votto led off the third with a double. An out later, Gomes singled. But Balentien and Rosales struck out again. Missed Opportunity II

With two outs in the third, Eric Young Jr. bunted one back to Kip Wells. Young is very fast. But if Wells fields it cleanly, he probably gets him, ending the inning. Wells walked Carlos Gonzalez. Seth Smith got one run in with a single. Jason Giambi hit one to deep center. It turned Drew Stubbs around and then went off his glove. It was generously scored a double. Two runs scored. Garrett Atkins crushed one to left for his eighth, and it was 5-1 game.

That’s how it ended.

The Reds were swept in the seven-game season series with the Rockies. The Reds have lost 14 of 15 to Colorado.

Matt Belisle, the former Reds, pitched the eighth and ninth to finish it for the Rockies

Gomes hits a 3 run homer to tie it at 4 going to the bottom of the 5th at Chicago.

If there is one thing the Reds do this offseason its sign Johnny Gomes and give him left field.

He hit another bomb last night, but so did everyone else, as the ball was flying out of GABP. Lehr never broke 86 last night according to the stadium radar gun, when he had to throw a fastball, they killed it.

I guess no more Reds threads? This week 9 has almost lasted 2 weeks.

Please sign Johnny Gomes, now!!!!!:clap::clap::clap::clap:

We're just trying to keep things on the downlow so that it's a big surprise to everyone when the Reds lead wire-to-wire next year with all these new faces on board. It's gonna happen. :D:sssh:

Don't know the details but Reds were up 2-0 going to the 9th at home vs. Marlins and they score 4 in the 9th. Bailey was scheduled to start for Reds. As I am typing some guy named Fransisco hits a solo homer to lead of the bottom of the ninth.

The Reds were 57-0 when leading after eight innings, the only NL team left with a perfect mark. Manager Dusty Baker decided to try to protect a 2-0 lead by having Cordero (2-6) pitch for the fifth day in a row.

Turned out to be one too many.

The Marlins sent 10 batters to the plate in the inning, which started with left fielder Wladimir Balentien's error -- he misplayed Chris Coghlan's liner. Uggla's run-scoring grounder tied it, and John Baker's hit put the Marlins ahead. Florida had four hits off Cordero, who retired only two batters.

"His velocity was there," Uggla said. "It just so happened he had a tough break with Coghlan getting on base first. After that, we found some holes. It's not that he was bad or anything -- he threw pretty good."

Cordero's fastball regularly hit 95 mph, but he couldn't get his pitches past the batters.

"I've pitched five, six games in a row before," said Cordero, who is 38 for 42 in save chances. "I feel great. There is nothing you can do about it. They got to my pitches. They hit the ball hard."
