Despite having a 3 game lead in the series, Lincoln County has been slightly outscored, 350 points to 346 points, for a per game of average of 18.4 to 18.2.

 

Lincoln County won nine of the first ten in the series from 1975-1984. Then, the teams didn’t play between 1985-1999. Rockcastle County hired Coach Tom Larkey (now at Harlan County) and greatly improved their program over that time period. The series was renewed in 2000 when Rockcastle County was the Patriots’ opponent in the Death Valley Bowl. Rockcastle County won six straight from 2000 through 2005 and in dominating fashion three of those years (2001, 2002, 2003 outscoring the Patriots 156 to 0). Lincoln County won two straight in 2006 and 2007 before Rockcastle’s win last season 35-13.

I've seen Rockcastle play, they seem to be too much for my Pats. LC improved a lot from week one to two, however they haven't played anyone as good as Rockcastle County in either game.

 

This isn't a great Rock team, IMO, but they should have enough to take care of the Pats. Looking foward to the trip to Mt. Vernon. Usually a good atmosphere for football.

 

Don't count your chickens before they hatch, about this Rock team not being great. Let's wait for four or five games to get under their belt and then comment on their greatness. Their are some whispers that this team may be underrated and will make a big run in 4A football this year. I do agree that they will have enough to take care of Lincoln. Mount Vernon is defiantly a good atmosphere for football....

My comment wasn't meant to be taken negativley. Rockcastle has had some VERY good teams over the years. I've seen them play against Boyle County this year, and in my opinion there was one great team on the field that night. Boyle County (who is also a 4a team). That's not to say they won't take care of LC fairly easily, but they are not an elite type team this year. They gave up nearly 400 yards rushing to one kid that game alone, so I feel pretty confident in saying that this isn't one of the Rock's all-time great teams. That doesn't mean that they can't be really good.

 

My opinion won't change after Friday, the Rock is a big favorite over the Pats. That's obvious. It may change as the year goes on, but to make a "big run" the Rock would eventually have to beat Boyle Co., and IMO that ain't happening.

Lincoln has trouble making a tackle. Too many waving arms. This will lead to a very long night unless they can control the clock.
