September 2, 200917 yr I just got the rings of death. :madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman::madman: Anyone else know anything to do or to help.
September 2, 200917 yr Well, my brother has a complex system of wrapping the Xbox in a blanket for a few hours (heating it up) and then putting it in the freezer for 30 minutes, which is a short-term fix to a permanent problem.
September 2, 200917 yr This occurred to ours a year or so ago. There was a process to contact X-Box and return the system and they sent us a new one (or at least it was one that worked properly - I didn't really look all that closely).
September 2, 200917 yr I experienced this situation early last year. Every so often it would work okay, then I would get the red rings. Finally it just completely stopped working. I had to send it back to xbox and they sent me a new xbox or atleast one that works. It was the most frustrating process to go through. Patience is the key if you are sending it back to xbox. It took weeks upon weeks to get mine back. :irked:
September 2, 200917 yr This is the simplest thing you can possibly do, but turn it on. Then if the red lights are still on there, unplug it from either the power box or the wall plugin. You may want to try taking your hard drive off and putting it back on, as well as taking cables out of the tv and putting them back in. I know that sounds so simple it couldn't fix a major problem like that, but I had two rings on mine once, unplugged it, then it never happened again. I've also heard taking the hard drive out has solved a few peoples problems.
September 2, 200917 yr Author Not that I recall. Maybe the shipping. Did you keep your hard drive when you sent it in?
September 2, 200917 yr You crazy. I'm telling you, I had to get mine replaced 3 times and the 4th time they wouldn't fix it. I'm getting a PS3 asap.
September 2, 200917 yr Send it back in to Microsoft. If its still under warranty you don't have to pay anything. If it isn't, it costs $100. I sent mine off a month or so back and it was back to me in a week and a half.

September 2, 200917 yr Calm down...here is the low down. Call Xbox and they will tell you this. * They are repairing all red rings for free because they gave everyone who owns an xbox360 an additional 3 year warranty that started last year. * It costs nothing and they will email you a UPS shipping label for you to mail it in. * Takes about 10 days to repair and ship back * Keep your hard drive with you, detach it from your 360. * You should get the same console back but under some circumstances they will give you a different one. (which now wouldn't be such a bad thing since the newer ones run quieter and smoother). That is all the information you should need to get it fixed. Same thing happened to me and they were great about it.
