August 27, 200917 yr Might as well do 1 Track the Reds for the rest of the season. Reds have won 3 straight for the 1st time since May 24 - 27. Paul Janish is now playing everyday. He struggled initially. He just missed a grand slam by a few inches the other night before grounding out. He's 8 - 43 in the last month but was 6 for his last 21 coming into tonight's game. He's played brilliantly in the field, making 2 very nice plays again tonight. Nix is on a tear. He has hit 3 HR in 2 nights. Over the past month he's hit over .278 with 4 HR.
August 27, 200917 yr Author Bronson has 6 quality starts in a row. Bronson has been great recently. The Reds are in a tough situation, as we speak. Harang, Cordero & Arroyo are killing them in terms of salary; however, none of the 3 have much trade value. If the Reds want to compete next year, they'll need Harang & Arroyo. Harang & Arroyo have pitched very well recently. With Volquez out for a while, I think you have to keep them around. The problem is, how do you add more juice to the lineup? I think Frazier comes up to 2nd, Phillips moves to SS with Janish in a utility role. Dickerson in LF, Stubbs in CF, Bruce in RF. Keep Gomes to hit against lefties. What is the status on Nix & Gomes' contracts?
August 27, 200917 yr Author Stubbs has struck out 4 straight times. When he hit the walk off HR he also had 3 K's.

Zach Stewart & Roenick are the two I hated giving up the most, in that order; however, you have to give something of value to get something of value in return.
August 27, 200917 yr Author Reds lead the Brewers 8 - 4 through 7 1/2. Lehr gave up 4 in the 1st but has battled through it. He had a 1-2-3 4th, 5th & 6th. Votto hit his 20 HR of the year. Janish had a 2 RBI double. They then Intentionally walked Votto. Phillips hit an RBI single, then Rolen followed with a 2 RBI single. This lineup is a lot different with Rolen in it...

August 27, 200917 yr Is there any chance that Lehr will one day become an efficient enough pitcher in a big league rotation?
August 27, 200917 yr Author Is there any chance that Lehr will one day become an efficient enough pitcher in a big league rotation? He's had a decent year. He's 32 (I think) & he doesn't have the "stuff" that people look for; however, he's been able to get people out. I'd give him a shot at the rotation. Let him compete with guys like Owings, Fisher & Maloney for the 5th spot next year. Harang, Arroyo, Cueto, Bailey and???
August 27, 200917 yr Author Reds sweep the Brewers, as they win today's game 8-5. CoCo made it interesting in the 9th, but got out of the jam. 4 straight for the Redlegs...
