Region Title Games were '96, '97 and the Title in '03. It may have been '96 and '98. I'm getting old and slipping a little.

We won a sub-district in the 80s. Seems like every year we have the district in our grip, something catastrophic happens. We have to be close to a state record in district runner up titles...:ohbrother: (Maybe we can trade in ten 2nd places for a 1st?)

 

Most people who rip on Dave's win/loss record forget he basically built both a team and a tradition. We were dead last in the state when he took over and were going to drop football. I think he is bellow .500, but the first 10-12 years were used to develop a program and there were fewer games when the playoffs started. Remeber that a lot of the sucessful coaches in the state are good at what they do, but stepped into established programs. David has more than 150 wins for sure.

 

It was 96 and 97, with losses to Pikeville and Middlesboro. LC has gone to the second round several times since 96, with several close second round games, with a break here or there, it could have been more region finals to their credit, but its all in the past, now to the present. The biggest thing for LC is try to make improve from the first game. They can't get caught up winning or losing, they need to make improvements and gain cofidence before district play starts. First big key is scoring, and playing defense in their last two games, (LCA and Clay) they have given up 110 pts. The last two losses has been the worse for a David Mitchell's team in the last 10 years. Whitley will come in fired up. Lynn Camp has won the last two meetings at LC, so not let down by WC. I expect Whitley to win, and win big, but hopefully LC will gain something from this game.

Just thought with Whitley coming off a heart braking loss and LC being down it was not the greatest time to play Whitley. You are correct though for it being a hard hitting contest year after year. :thumb:

Whitley is too much for LC this year. I see it as 44-12 with LC scoring late and Coach Black pulling the starters to start the 4th quarter.

I just don't see Lynn Camp hanging in with Whitley. This one could get a running clock.

I don't see a running clock. Last year there was not a running clock with a worse LC team and an equal (or better) WCHS team.

Does anyone know how WCHS's QB is doing?

I have not heard or seen anything in the papers to think that he won't play. Sounds like the Whitley camp is trying to keep it a secret so LC will have to prepare for both QBs.

 

If Lynn Camp will come out and smack Whitley in the mouth two or three times early they will question their heart, and then the Wildcats can take over....It took Lexington Cath. three quarters but when they smacked Whitley around a couple of times they took over.

 

Remember WC is 0-2 in their last two trips to Mitchell Field

With Lebanion's status unknown it could change how the game is played. I would not bet against Lynn Camp at home. Whitley will have to improve from the 40+ defensive effort from last week. Lynn Camp will have to find some type of offense. It could come down to just who is the better shape and who wants it more.

Whitley will role in this one 42-7. Whitley gave up 40+ last week, too Lex. Cath. Lynn Camp should have a good year this season in Class A, but Whitley seems to be ready to make a deep run in 5A.

Why is Whitley playing Lynn Camp?!?! Aren't they a 5A school? Maybe they had a hard time finding teams to play after a great season last year.
