Little League World Series General Thread

Featured Replies

I thought I would start just a general thread for all LLWS games. A couple of early observations: (1) The Saudi Arabia team has a girl on their team. This caught my attention with the way females are viewed and treated in Saudi culture. They play on ESPN2 at 6:00 tonight. (2) The European team is from Ramstein Airforce Base in Germany. I haven't seen these guys yet, but I would have to believe they are mostly, if not all, American kids of service members. If this is the case, I hope they win the International pool. It would be great to see an all American championship game.

Isn't the Saudi team usually about half-American military and half-Saudi? I think I've noticed that on several Saudi teams over the years.

I haven't watched them play yet, so I don't know. I will be watching later, though.

I'll be at a football game tonight. I'd love to see some updates from the KY game in this thread tonight if at all possible. I'll check them from my phone.

Thanks:thumb:

KY will have their hands full will Chula Vista. CV has several big hitters especially Luke Ramizez 6' 2" 215 pitcher.

That is the case on this team. I'm watching them right now, and more than half are American.

I know I will get burned for this and I must tell you that my only child is my daughter and I coached an all girls soccer team but.....If it's okay for a young lady to play baseball in the LLWS, then why isn't it okay for a young man to play in the Softball Little League World Series. Seems it equal only when it an advantage to the girls but not to the boys now day's.

Some area's don't have enough girls interested in having a softball program. There are 2 girls playing on teams in this years LLWS, the teams from Canada and Saudi Arabia. I don't know about Canade, but I would bet that is the case in Saudi. I don't have a problem with it if that is the case. I couldn't look a kid in the eye and tell her she couldn't play ball because there was only baseball, not softball.

While you are most probably correct about the team from Saudi Arabia, my guess is Canada has enough young ladies in their Country to field a softball team!

So what happens if there weren't enough boys to make a team up? Do you think the Softball LL would allow a young boy to play?

Danny Almonte just homered for Chula Vista

More impressive is they have three players who will drive the team vans back to the hotel after the game

They could come from a town small enough for that to happen. My daughter played in the Mustang division (9-10 yr old) of Pony League softball this year. We only had 12 girls sign up and had to play with the teams from another town. The boys in this same division fielded 5 teams. In some areas, there just isn't any interest in certain sports. Also, there are 14 more girls in my daughters grade than there are boys.

:lol::lol: In all seriousness, my husband at 12 was 6'3" and 210 lbs, so it is possible for them to be that big, but it does make you wonder a little.

Chula Vista was awsome last night. As I understand, Merv Rettenmund provided special batting instruction to the league throughout their season.
