mexitucky Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 NewCath face Dixie in their first regular season battle since the early part of this decade. BGP fans will recognize this battle as the "Superbowl of Scrimmages." How do you see this playing out? I will reserve my opinion until I know about Brown and Cain.
nees1212 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 With 10 returning starters on each side of the ball, one would think Dixie should have the edge. However, they're notorious for slow starts.
Bredsmom13 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Highchew has been doing great at QB for NCC. I think he'll be okay. The line is ready to eat somebody....they have been pumped and ready to go. I think it will be a back and forth game but I feel that NCC has the heart and ability to pull it off. Garrett Brown and Jake Cain are definitely missed however!
C6H0-83 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 On paper this should be an easy one for Dixie...but since the game is played on the field and not on paper, I'm still going with Dixie but in a close one.

mexitucky Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 Why is Cain down? When is Garrett back? Cain will be playing at least defense, he did against Holmes on Friday. I won't speculate on what is hurt, just that he didn't play much offense against Holmes. I don't know exactly why so I won't post it up here.

Miller was a good QB for the Freddies last season, did positions change?
TAC Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Is Brady Highchew the Sophomore that is the quarterback? He is a gifted player in ever sport he plays. I'll have to give the edge to Dixie since NCC is starting a sophomore though. I've heard they are in a rebuilding year, but coach Schnieder will have them game ready! good luck to both teams.
mexitucky Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 Miller was a good QB for the Freddies last season, did positions change? He sport changed. He's on the golf team and kicking for the team.
Voice of Reason Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 This is definitely one of the more unpredictable match ups of week one. As others have said, Dixie looks like a winner on paper but recent history says Dixie won't convert that paper advantage to a win, especially this early in the season. I keep thinking Dixie is going to surprise some people this year so I will go with Dixie - but no way I am even going to attempt to predict a score or spread.

NewCath will miss Nate Rawe and Mark Kelly this year on Special Teams. Both of those guys were dangerous returners who could change field position in a hurry. W/ a younger group at the skill positions, NewCath could use that weapon this year. I will say this, NewCath's line looks very big. There is not a fat kid on the line. Hopefully they can gel and give Kelly some lanes. One thing that will help this team is for them to find their playmakers early. The WRs for NewCath this year are more of the possession type. It would be nice for someone to emerge who can take it to the house.
