rockmom Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Nine Louisville high school athletic programs have been without trainers since Monday while Jefferson County Public Schools and the Kentucky Orthopedic Rehab Team work out contract details Coaches are concerned
Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Are athletic trainers part of all the Kentucky public school budgets then, or is that just a Jefferson County Public deal?
ladiesbballcoach Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Are athletic trainers part of all the Kentucky public school budgets then, or is that just a Jefferson County Public deal? We have a trainer that shows up on one afternoon a week after school. Trainers are not at practices for the sports teams. Coaches handle all of those duties of dealing with injuries, taping, handling players, rehabbing in most rural counties.

rockmom Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 Trinity always has an AT on hand as far as I know. I know that personally, I'm very grateful for that.

sidelinedoc Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Some of us docs to it free! It keeps me young!!!
SARR Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Doc hats off to you for doing that for your community, I am sure your team's coaching staff greatly appreciates your help. Most of the schools in EKY don't have trainers at practices. It is unfortunate that the Coaches are expected to do those duties as well as Coach.
Commander 25 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Bell County has one everyday I think. Or at least 3 days a week and on game nights.
ColonelMike Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Baptist Hospital Northeast supplies a trainer for all three Oldham County high schools at no cost to the school system... :thumb:
