BK has made his mark at UC with mostly players D'Antionio recruited for a 2 yards and a cloud of dust system at UC. And what he inherited at CMU was pretty much the bottom of D1 talent in the Mid West. That part of what he has done is very often overlooked...

 

Easy GT, I love BK as well. I just think that Peterson is the better fit at Notre Dame. I actually think he may be just as good a fit as Urban. I know, I know, Meyer has two titles, but Meyer is a strict spread guy, it will take a while to add those kind of players at ND. I think Kelly is who Michigan should look at, if they decide that the Rich Rod experience just isn't working.

 

Mainly, great coaches win no matter where they are at. Brian Kelly, Peterson, Whittingham, Meyer, pretty much everyone that has been mentioned except for Charlie Weis is a great coach, and I think would have success just about anywhere.

What about Jon Gruden?

 

I think Gruden would be a great choice, but I agree with GD57, I don't think they would go the pro route again. I do think that Gruden and Notre Dame would be a great combo though.

He would no doubt have to listen very hard, but he is establishing some deep roots here and his family loves the community. With each passing year it is more and more likely he will be at UC for a while...

I'll be interested to see if he can recruit the type of players to compete for a National Title at UC. GT, I'm not a UC fan so I don't know much of their recruiting, what's Kelly doing on that front?

 

Also, I think that BK would be a perfect fit at Ohio State should Tressell decide to retire or go to the NFL, both unlikely while BK is at UC, but I think that's his best fit.

 

Whittingham is a Urban Meyer protege, so I think he'd be a great replacement should Urban leave any time soon. To me, Peterson looks like the type of coach that could step into a job like USC and not miss a beat.

The 09 class was the best UC has ever landed in terms of rankings and 2010 is already ahead of that. Plus they are doing it with some talent from Florida and Jersey sprinkled in among kids in the 200 mile radius with multiple BCS offers...

At their current programs none of the mentioned will win a NC.

Whittingham was on Urban Meyer's staff at Utah. Petersen was Dan Hawkins' staff while he was at Boise, Hawkins is at Colorado now, I guess that's some ties to BCS schools.

I don't think that would matter. Peterson, Kelly, and Wittingham will all have many suitors in the future. Whether they take them or not is really anyones guess. I don't see how any of the three would be able to turn down an offer by Notre Dame (money & prestige) or a really high level program.
