Athletically and at their skill positions, there aren't many teams that Highlands can't match up with. Do they have the depth on their lines to beat X this year? I'm asking b/c I have no clue. I know that one just signed with Miami and their top 5 will always be fundamentally sound and aggressive, but will they have the depth behind them when they face a very good St. X line. I hope so, nothing would be better during the regular season than for NKY's best team to drub one of Cincy's.

How are things on the O-line set when they have not even put the gear on yet? Who is Snyder? Where are Dierig and/or Hahn? Isn't Beck a little on the small side to be playing tackle? What happened to putting Welz at tackle rather than tight end?

I noticed Bardo threw against an EIGHT-man D-coverage and Hendrix threw against a SIX-man D-coverage, the Birds had 2-LBrs stepping up to the line-of-scrimmage. Even with that scheme, Birds' beat Moe's coverage. Birds' D-coverage played up to Moe's offensive challenge, forcing a ton of short yardage attempts.

 

The talent pool is deep, Birds' JV squad seemed to score at will. Work hard young men YOU make the Seniors' better players and I see their experience is working for YOU.

Bardo was terrific!!! The Birds controlled the scrimmage and made the big plays! JV was equally as good and dominate.

HHS was blessed to have 2 very strong qb's last year. No disrespect to Tony G but I thought Bardo threw a much better ball last year and that was just from watching him warm up.

 

He's legit.

 

Highlands has another 7 on 7 at 5pm on thursday evening (someone please correct me if I'm wrong),if you get the chance to attend,you really should,it's nice watching the talented receivers catching passes from a very talented quarterback. Dale likes to get his O-line set early and the rest fall where they may. Snyder moved into Ft. Thomas late winter early spring. He is a senior. Beck has put on some weight and should be plenty big enough for tackle. Welz has been getting alot of work at TE.

I was not there but I would guess that both teams run a 3-5 defense. At least, I know HHS does. So yes that puts 8 defenders on the field. What usually happens is that at least 1 lb will simulate a blitz to reduce down to 7 men. Then depending on blitz/coverage call, they may simulate bringing 2 lb's thus further reducing the players dropping into coverage.

 

Teams will do this because it is a great time to work on how your coverages will roll to compensate for the blitz. I.E. giving a cover 2 look and at the snap rolling down into cover 3 or vice-a versa.
