I hope that the Lions get everything rolling again. There is too much tradition and talent in that school to not do well in all sports.

 

I certainly agree doc. Boyd has a long history of excellence in all sports. I know that I can certainly remember the Boyd Co. football teams in the 70's. Coach Tom Scott........Cheny, Keelin amoung many others and some of their games with Ashland and Herb Conley. Those Lion/Tomcat - Scott/Conley games defined high school football in our area and I like to think that Raceland in some ways looked to those programs and modled the Rams program in ways by their example.

At a Tomcat practice last week one of the freshman parents told me that Boyd Co. canceled the freshman game this year. If true, it may be due to not having enough players to have a team. I hope this is not the case and that a Lion fan can provide the correct information. Good luck this year.

Were the Boyd/Ashland Freshman and JV games scheduled to be played on the same day this season ?

I've been told that the Freshman and JV games were scheduled for the same day. I believe that Boyd's freshman team is essentially the JV team also and the coaches didn't want the players to play 2 games in the same day. So it does come down to low numbers.

My schedule shows both the JV and freshmen games scheduled for Sept. 7. I guess low numbers is the issue then.

That's the word I got on the cancellation of the freshman game.

Seems like pretty low numbers for a school that had 453 boys enrolled last year.
