June 30, 200917 yr Rockets provide a great opportunity for a team to get some players from them. Of the three teams I really like (Cavs are #1 of course), I think the Cavs and Hornets could use some of their players like Battier. Varajao and Gibson for Battier, Landry, and a scrub.
June 30, 200917 yr This stinks for the Rockets, it's looking like McGrady is going to be dealt for a servicable replacment for Yao-which there really isn't one on the offensive end as Yao is the best offensive big man in the NBA-so a team that if-a big if-healthy could win an NBA title. I don't particularly like Yao but I hate to see anyone's career be shortened or ended by an injury. I hope he can recover quickly and be back on the floor soon.
June 30, 200917 yr Ariza I think will eventually get to a point to where he gives you more offensively than Artest. IMO Ariza will never get to a point where he is better than Artest offensively. He has already been in the league for quite a few years and is nothing more than a spot up shooter and slasher with incredible athleticsm. No one in the league wants to step in front of Artest when he drives to the basket and he can create his own shot, I can't see Ariza ever getting to that point.

IF that trade went through it would be great for the Cavs. Battier alone would bring so much to the table. I would love to see something like this happen.

He has alot of athleticism and has a nice shot.
June 30, 200917 yr Ariza is young though. He has alot of athleticism and has a nice shot. I agree I just think he is so raw between the 3 pt line and the rim that it will take a LONG time for him to get to Ron Ron's level.
July 2, 200917 yr I feel sorry for Yao the guy gives it his all and always seems to get hurt. I'm not a Yao fan, but I do feel sorry for him.
July 2, 200917 yr As a Lakers fan, he is better than Ariza. They need Odom back, that is a necessity. If they can sign and trade Ariza and a couple of bench players for Artest, I would love that. Artest is one of the best defenders in the NBA imo and would help the Lakers greatly. Is Artest going to be a free agent? If so, discard what I said above and I say sign Odom and Artest and let Ariza go, he was good last year, but Artest is a better player imo. Short term maybe, long term Ariza has a better upside for a player for the next 8-10 years.
July 2, 200917 yr Short term maybe, long term Ariza has a better upside for a player for the next 8-10 years. Yeah, but with Kobe and Gasol, they really need the better player for the next 3 or 4 years.

His body is so large that a foot injury would just kill his career. He has always been a great center and an upstanding member of the NBA and I think the league has been lucky to have him (if he is done).
