The Lions play a team from Somerset Saturday morning at 9 AM at Simon Kenton High School. This is part of the Battle Of The Borders Tourney. They are missing two of their top pitchers and could use all the local support they could get I would say.JMO

Who is coaching the Lions during the "dead period" or do the Beechwood players just not show up to the games during this two week period?

 

From what I understand, a HS coach can't even go watch his players play during this two week period of time much less coach them!

Not sure about the "watching" part. I've seen Bob stand over by the trees during DP when his team was playing.

personnel and school facilitiesuniforms, nicknames, transportation or equipment shall not be

used each year in any KHSAA sanctioned sport or cheerleading

squad during the period beginning with June 25, and going

interscholastic athletics in any KHSAA sanctioned sport during

this period. These restrictions shall not apply to postseason wrapup

activities, celebrations and recognition events relating to a

spring sports team at a school which participated in KHSAA state

The Lions beat Somerset Gold 7-0. Doug Teegarden(15- from Boone County) throws a no hitter, only allowing 1 walk and the Lions commit 1 error.

in a setting in which skills are taught, refined, practiced or

evaluated. Attendance at a scrimmage or contest is included

in the definition of coaching. This coaching restriction includes

all members of the athletic coaching staff, paid or unpaid. This

restriction prohibits the delegation or assignment of activities

by any member of the coaching staff to other individuals,

including student-athletes who may or may not be participating.

All coaching restrictions are in place whether the activity is

conducted within, or outside of the school

 

2) Coaches may be involved with outside activities and leagues as

long as there is no contact with members of his/her high school

team and as long as the coach is not in attendance when any of his/her players are participating. Coaches should be cautioned against using this type of activity in violation of Bylaw 10,

Dougie T. Splendid performance!!!! The Rebels should have a very solid 1-2-3 punch next spring with Deno, Teegarden and Laumann.

Fathers who are former coaches are taking care of the team. Why is this so important to anyone? Who really cares about this? If a player goes on vacation with his family great. Maybe this is why the Lions are missing a pitcher. I personally think this is crazy. I understand why it is in place though. I know at least 2 of the BW players are out and not sure if the other 2 are playing.

If that's the rule then its either new or it was broken last year.

"Attendance" at a game would mean just that IMO. I think everyone can rest assured that Myerhoff knows the rules and doesn't jeopardize anything for pete's sake.
