Shuttleworth went 5 & 1/3 gave up 3 runs on 4 hits and must of had 9 or 10 Ks. Russell finished 1 & 2/3 innings with no hits and no runs. It was great to see Shuttleworth back on the mound and in complete control.

Not surprised by the outcome at all and I think Conner will be facing CCH in the finals.

Going into the season, Shuttleworth was absolutely Conner's #1 pitcher. After tearing he hamstring just prior to the season opener, Juniors Samad, Russell and West steped and did a great job. It was kind of fitting with yesterday being Memorial Day that Shuttleworth (a Naval Academy signee) had such a dominate outing.

If BW does as you say, Who do they then throw against CCH if they happen to beat Conner? What does it matter if BW beats Conner if they get run ruled by CCH? Can you really remember that many Region runner ups over the last 10 years? How many times have you seen BW play this year and who pitched for them? Just Curious.

They have three pitchers remaining, but I only see two pitching. Smith and Larrimore will pitch if they get to the championship. Snyder can throw but he plays behind the plate and never pitches.

Didn't CC run rule Beechwood with Smith on the mound? Beechwood would have a better chance against CC with a junkballer than a fastballer. I have not seen Beechwood play, only going by what others have observed and their results. I have seen Conner play and they have been inconsistent but have a very, very capable ball club. I think that Conner is definitely the next best team remaining and the only team with a shot at giving CC a game (since Jeramie Connor is not available to hurl for NC against CC). I would rather play in the final than get knocked out in the semis with my ace at another position. My personal opinion is that Beechwood has very little chance vs. CC with or without Smith (been proven already this year), so the Beechies might as well try to get to the finals and throw an off-speed pitcher vs. CC. I have no dog in the fight, so good luck to all remaining teams.
