I haven't seen that about Glaus anywhere. It looks like Carpenter might be back next week.

I have heard that Troy Glaus may be lost for the season. If so I would think they need to add a right handed bat.

Where did you hear that and whats the problem with him?

The only thing I could find is that they are supposed to do a follow up assessment on his shoulder on June 1. That was back on April 1 though.

STL Today said that he still hasn't been cleared for baseball related activities and one of there guys in a Q&A said there was a chance he could be out the year. I don't know how much that is worth though.

Also Ludwick just left the game with a leg injury...

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates, having descended to their customary submerged spot of sixth place in the National League Central Division after eight consecutive losses, needed a win. The Cardinals, who already had dropped five of their last eight, lost twice Tuesday night.

Not only did the Cardinals drop a 7-1 decision to the Pirates, but they almost certainly have lost right fielder and cleanup man Ryan Ludwick for a period of time, probably even the disabled list, because of a right hamstring strain. He was hurt when giving futile chase to Nyjer Morgan's fly ball, which went for a two-run triple in the second inning.

Cards losing Ludwick hurts them pretty bad. Teams will be able to just completely pitch around Albert now. I told my buddy last week the Cards were a good ball team but an injury to Albert or Ludwick away from becoming a below .500 team. This Cub fan feels your pain this year.

Ludwick went on the 15 day disabled list today. They say Carpenter may be as early as the next homestand. That starts this Friday.

PITTSBURGH — When a team moves just one runner into scoring position other than a solo home run in the first eight innings, its chances of winning are remote. Couple that with a defense that wasn't able to make any key plays and a starting pitcher who didn't walk anybody but didn't miss too many bats, and the Cardinals continue in free-fall.

Assuring themselves of a losing trip and their third series loss in the past four, the Cardinals were no match again Wednesday night for the Pittsburgh Pirates, the last-place club in their division. The Pirates won 5-2, and they even had a run taken off the board with a correct reversal of a home-run call in the first inning.
