I agree that they are the best team in the 17's! We are in a rebuilding phase, and had no luck on this draw/seeding. Have not seen S.S play this year, but seeing the results of their past tourneys and knowing the players on the team they are tough, and very well coached!

My predictions:

 

The coaches that put the best (team) players on the floor will win this week-end. There are a ton of great kids that can score in this tourney. The team and players that put there ego's aside and play as a team will come out on top this week-end. I will take a good team over a loaded super stars playing for stats. The "Me" first players may get noticed but hardly ever win Championships.

 

Well if it comes down to coaching like you say, then that would mean that SS, WKY Elite or the ICE will win the 16's. In the 17's it would be wide open because that field is loaded with great coachins, C. KY Storm, DSAS, SS and Team Kentucky just to name a few.

I find your response to this previous post laughable. Not that you are incorrect, but you seem to be a WKY Elite fan, so why not put them in your list of teams with "great" coaches and teams that will win the 16's. lol.

I agree. I think they have to be the U17 favorite, followed by the KY Players.

KY PLayers, isn't that the Holmes Bunch? If so, they are loaded as well. How have they done so far this spring?

Yes, it's the Holmes bunch with a few other very good players from around NKY/Cincy to round out the team. They won a tourney at Sportsville two weeks ago, defeating the Dayton Ohio Nets, but lost by 1 to the DSAS 16s on a last second shot in the Queen City Showcase in Cincy this past Sunday in the title game.

Shining Stars U15 would probably be the slight favorite here IMO. That team has good talent and good guard play. I have heard a lot about the NKY Tarheels and the younger DSAS (15U). Should be a good tournament.

 

 

Actually, I'm not sure if it is the same NKY Tarheel team that you are talking about, but there was a NKY Tarheel team at the BCI tournament this weekend that was not too impressive. I'm just not sure if they were 14U or 15U. If they were the 14U then they held their own against some 15U teams. But, if that was the 15U team, I wouldn't consider them a favorite in the state tourney this weekend.

 

I also saw the NKY Rhinos (15U) in the same tournament. They were a decent team, but lack some size. I heard they picked up two of the big men from NKY Heat - one about 6'6 and the other about 6'3. Both can play above the rim. I think these additions will make them a much better team come tournament time.

Yeah, I havent seen the Tar Heels play this season. I have just heard talk about them. I thought they had a decent 14U team last year and those kids would have moved up of course. There have also been a few posts on here I believe. We shall see.

Someone dropped the ball on this! They should move that time back to about 5 or 6 PM on Sunday for the tryouts! A kid should not have to decide to leave his team during the state tourney to try out for an all star team!

It should be on a different day. The kids that have played 2 or 3 games that day won't have any legs left to produce a good tryout.
