Track The Cubs (Week 5)

Thought I'd put this story in this weeks too cause I'm still mad about it

I was there for Thursdays game and got some kinda stomach virus in the middle of the game, made it to the end but spent friday in bed. Then saturday I spent the day site seeing. Then today......I've never bought tickets at Wrigley from a scalper, but today I did and I'll likely never do it again. Today was a hot ticket since they were retiring Fergi Jenkins/Greg Maddux's #31. I had to be there to see that. Well I bought my tickets from the scalper after haggling with him for a few minutes and getting 2 bleachers for face value which felt like a good deal to me, but when they scanned me into the game she said "these are fake". Imagine how my heart sunk. Well I think had to talk to the cops, ID the guy from a photo lineup, but they couldn't find him. So I was out my $80 bucks.

Luckily, the cop knew one of the scalpers near by and called him over and explained that he wasn't in trouble but to help me out and he'd leave him alone. So that scalper sold me 2 box seats for $20 below face each. That scalper was super nice and even walked me to the gate so I'd know they were legit. He even stopped by to say hi during the game and I made it in time for the retirement ceremony. I justified it because I got out of paying for parking by finding a spot on the street about 6 blocks from the stadium and then the great deal on the tickets that were real, but still stung to get dooped like that.

Tonight the Cubbies go for 4 in a row against the Giants. Hopefully Dempster can get back on track tonight. Aramis could be back in the lineup. Hopefully D-Lee's grand slam jump starts him. We just need to get Soto and Bradley hitting to their potential and this team will be playing up to expectations and should make up some ground in the Central. I almost would prefer them just to win the Wild Card so in the playoffs they'd start on the road and get away from the pressure at Wrigley

I guess we're saving his innings for the end is a way we can look at it

With all the injuries we've had, it truly is amazing we are above .500. When the fire sales start, hopefully the Cubs will bring on some bullpen help or another starter. Chad Fox is destroying in triple A, but he's really only qualified to play 1st base. He may get moved in a trade possibly.

Theroit hits a homer to give them a 3-0 lead against the Giants. That is 3 dingers this week for him. Nice to see a little power surge from him considering the parts of the lineup who are struggling; mainly Soto and Bradley

Cubs win their 4th straight. Cards drop their first game to the Phils. Only 2.5 back. Not bad considering almost everyone has missed games due to injuries.

Nice to see Marmol take care of business in the 8th. Gregg throws wwwaaaayyyyy too many pitches as a closer. Good to see "The Arsonist" come to the mound in the 7th and 8th for the Giants.

Marshall settled in, Cubs down 1 going into the 8th. Hope the Giants bring in Howry

Hope the Cubs bring in Samardzija. :sssh::lol:

Cubbies getting hit hard by the injury bug. They're doing a good job of sticking around, though.

Cool to see the 30 year old minor leaguer get a hit today.

Theriot is on a tear.

If they can stay within 5 games till everyone gets healthy, they'll be ok. I'm not convinced the Cards can maintain this tear.
