Ugly, after Rizzo got picked off in the first after a lead off walk it went down hill for the birds. NCC was just crushing the ball and hitting in the right spots. The birds bats were really quiet.

Shaun Meyer pitched for the Thoroughbreds. He did a fantastic job of locating his breaking ball all night. Oliver Head pitched for Highlands. Newport Central Catholic really picked him apart.

Is it really that bad or just that they're not hitting? From the games I've been to, I don't see any "Bad News Bears" type things going on, it's been the lack of hitting.

I tend to agree with you.....Hitting is poor. Pitching after Sainola I think is shaky at best.

They had some Bad News Bear plays, but they also didn't look to into the game as well.

If that was the case I am sure Coach B. will take care of that today..... I mean I have seen them miss cutoffs and stuff like that but major league players do that stuff.

I thought Highlands would be better than this this year.

I am not convinced there is the level of talent playing that is necessary to compete at a high level. However.....this kind of season is not going to convince anybody else to play next year.

You have to build a program. Give it time. You need kids to come out. How does Football work with Jr Football and Freshman football. How about a freshman baseball team.:deadhorse:

BB good points but you have basketball people wanting 6th grade hoops......baseball needing a feeder program, etc. This is really a dilemma for the AD.

Two boys coming through the system. AD needs to step up; I never thought I would be sending them any place else but two boys that I am certain will like to have the opportunity to play all 3 sports and weigh each of the programs equally. No 6th grade hoops, no freshman baseball might steer in a different direction. I don't think this is much to ask? We moved in the area for athletics and academics the entire package. With the success in our feeder football program why not build younger programs in basketball and baseball. I know many parents are wanting this. What does this take an act of Congress. I might need to do a Jack Bauer on the subject. What type of grass roots effort must it take. Both are long time in coming and really gets me:madman:
