DD I truly don't know as that's up to the Mailes, UK and the IRS to know not me. Remember Colleges can only give 11.7 baseball scholarship and those go mostly to pitchers and Catchers. IMHO Maile is the better catcher of the two, as Luke has a better arm, but Farris man can he hit a baseball and he has the speed edge. If I had to choose between the two I would go with Luke as I think he has a better chance at the next level (pro) as his catching skills are so outstanding. When you throw in his arm and baseball smarts, along with his bat, well to me it's Maile. You truly can't go wrong by choosing one over the other.

After reading the several quotes which are all great and that's what keeps this thing going. But anyone challenging Luke Maile's athletic ability needs to have there head examined. The kid can catch and throw with the best of them and hits the ball a ton. HE WOULDN'T BE GOING TO KENTUCKY IF HE DIDN'T HAVE IT. However he is not the fastest of foot but his other abilities make hima very dangerous player.

 

The TOG mentioned earlier how Luke hit the ball 400 + feet Saturday and not many people do that! He is right! But he was not the only one to hit the ball out over the center feild fence on Saturday. I saw Luke's hit first hand and it was pounded! Now, don't get you pants all tied up because I'm not comparing. I'm just saying we have other good athletes in Northern Kentucky. Also, Oscar questions whether Lokesak and Cotton were D-1 material? I can't speak for Cotton as I don't know anything about his recruiting process. However, I am familiar with Lokesak's. Just to clarify, fiirst of all your opinion is yours and I respect that and it's great that you have a passion for the players reresented on your team. That's the way it should be! With that said, and I'm not taking anything away from any other player because I would love to see this region loaded with great players of the same ability! It only makes our Region more legit! However, As far as Daniel Lokesak's ability He 's had D-1 scouts looking at him since last Spring as a Junior as well as D-II. His summer coach Rob Sanders (Also Bellevues coach) has done a wonderful job in this process as has Matt Wilhoit ( Boones Old coach and now AD at Cooper). This past summer he batted 474 with 8 hr's and an on base percentage of 574. He also stole 46 out of 54 bases. He been timed with a legit 6.5 60 yd dash and 4.5 40yr dash. Missouri timed him in both 60 and 40 in August of 2008. Although he's not being read about or promoted on Bluegrass preps doesn't always mean a kid is not being looked at seriously. Heck, last year he had a great season only to be overshadowed by a well deserving Cory Farris. As of today, he has not decided on a school and he is more concerned about his academic future -where the school has to be a match for him. I also wouldn't go as far to say he's a fluke! Or may cool down just yet! For that could be said about several kids in NK from all teams. I personally follow as much as I can but don't know the inside story on other kids so I don't comment unless it's positive. But again, everyone has an opinion and I do respect peoples opinions. I am a Boone County fan. But also a fan of Northern Kentucky baseball. As for the game yesterday? It's one game in a season that's half over. Boone County made the plays at the right time and hit the ball well to win. CCH is a very good team! But yesterday was a wake up call. I still think they are the pick of the Region IMO. This loss as dumb as it sounds will help them. No harm no foul with any comments from the TOG or OSCAR you guys keep this going. I just wanted to add some facts for a Boone County player.

TOG...I agree with you on the pitch count with Alford. I thought he was coming out in the fifth? Boone may have some other surprises on the mound.... .Who knows? But I hope we find them soon so the rotation gets set by season end!

 

I didn't comment when you mentioned you had other things to catch up on , but I can relate to that! Baseball season will flat out wear you out! Hustling home fom work to get to the game at 5pm ,then eating a stale hotdog bun at 6pm because you can't take it any longer. Not to mention nothing gets done at home till the weekend! So, I respect the fact you had other things a bit more important that adding comments right away. But you came through!!

Farris left handed batter and incredible speed for a great lead off batter if were going to talk about pros. Defensively I could see him using his speed in the outfield and even improving his catching........I have to be leaning for Corey.

Having a 6.5 60 the DI coaches would have been all over him as a jr. and his mail box should have been full as Lukes was.

Kids with that type of speed are very rare!

Now NIKE has his 40 at 4.77 in 2008.I would say they know a thing or two about 40s.

40s and 60s are like kids bench press they get better as the day ends when they run them!

Daniel is an excellent athlete and should be playing somewhere at the next level in either football or baseball!But 6.5 is a bit of a much!

Thank you! A lefty is 3 or 4 feet closer to 1st base and naturally they are already carrying momentum after the swing out of the box other than a righty having to correcty the way his body is going to run to 1st.

I'm a fan of both Farris and Maile. If we are talking about catching I'd have to go with Maile. If your going to the outfield I would go with Cory. Talk about their bats, I wouldn't want to live between the difference. BTW, does anyone know how Cory is doing at UK so far this year?

Agree with your comments above and if you picked first I would gladly take whomever you didn't take. Both are outstanding players and even better young men, both familes did an outstanding job of raising them.

So I don't think you can compare the talent level vs the amount of D1 mail. I think Lokesak will be every bit as successful as the 2 of them in college and beyond. His speed is unmatched in this area. I think we can all agree there are other NKY players, besides top 3 at CCH,that will be successful beyond high school, Hunter Jones isn't even being compared here.

The point is that until you beat the Hammer you will always have that question/doubt in the back of your head. Its human nature. Boone removed that doubt re: Nutini.

I doubt if there is a faster OF in NKY than Boone's.
