April 3, 200917 yr He's had quite a few low 4 and high 3 star kids in there since 05. Still very talented, but kids that weren't ready to explode right away. He will bring in these kids in the 51-150 range as 4 year guys to sustain the one and done types along the way. Look at the Memphis roster over the last 4 years real hard before you think every kid was Rose or Evans... I agree. I keep hearing these analysts make comments that Cal will have a great year, then a down year because of the players he recruits. I have to ask myself, do they even watch college basketball? I don't keep up with it near as much as some and I know Memphis has been on a tear for a while now. When was his last down year? Also, how many one-and-dones did he have at Memphis? The truth is, there aren't that many guys who can do it. You recruit the very best players you can get every year. Period. If you do that consistenly, down years will be few and far between. And, FWIW, I'd take up and down years vs. consistency if the tradeoff is having a frontrunner for the title when its good. I look at Duke...no big time NBA prospects since Deng in '03-04 and consequently that was their last Final 4 appearance. Whether you like having these guys on your roster or not, it's hard to hang banners without them.
April 3, 200917 yr I agree GT was consistent with his opinion on BCG recruits. :thumb: I can recall numerous posts from him questioning BCG's recruits or questioning the belief that he was a great recruiter.

April 3, 200917 yr Evans wasn't even leaving, until Cal left. His brother said he was coming back for 1 more year.
