UKMustangFan Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Had a meeting with Coach Cal tonight, and GJ is reopening his commitment. Maggard is reporting this. GJ's dad is a poster on his site.
saint4 Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Thank you for the information. This might be a good sign for getting Wall.
HammerTime Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Interesting. This kid has always seemed to be a mystery of some sorts. No one knew all that much about him. I wonder if UK is still in the lead and who else is on his radar. Did he not fit into Cal's system?
striker Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I'm guessing (hoping) Cal told him he wouldn't see much time next year because Wall would likely be here...

UKMustangFan Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 For the record, I understand the decision, but I hate to hear this. His dad is one of the classiest posters I've come in contact with on any site.
dolamite Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Think this is the best move for both sides. Gillespie seemed to take the approach of getting average talented guys who I think he felt could plug in and do a descent job running the offense. With that said, with Calipari as the new coach, and with him trying to retore UK to prominence, there is really no reason why we should have even thought about wasting a scholarship on a player such as Vilarino. Nothing against the kid, I hope he goes on to enjoy a great career, but the signing of these type guys along with the lack of signing 4 and 5 star guys is the main reason Kentucky has been in the shape it has been.
dolamite Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I'm guessing (hoping) Cal told him he wouldn't see much time next year because Wall would likely be here... I doubt thats the case because like I said in another thread it will be a fight to actually land Wall. I think it just has more to do with Cal "trimming the fat" so to speak in order to try and free up as many scholly's as possible. Hopefully one will be Wall's but thats a decision he will have to make, but I think to say Wall would likely be here is a stretch, especially to tell a commitment. With that said I believe Kentucky stands in as good as shape as anyone else when it comes to our chances with Wall, but he really seems to be unsure of anything right now and I can smell another Jai Lucas type situation. Just hoping this time theres a better outcome and we land "our" point guard.
Baseballguy Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Maybe I missed it on here, but K.C. Ross Miller has also re-opened.

UKMustangFan Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 Matt Jones is reporting that Wall is leaning towards UK and will choose later this week... That's from an ESPN Radio report earlier in the day.....I tend to think he's probably going to come to UK, but I'd be surprised if he decides so quickly.
halfback20 Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I think this is good. I hope Vilarino finds a good place to play, but I don't think he would have seen much PT at UK. Coach Cal is going to start bringing in some top notch recruits IMO.

Just watched the link CC talked about in another thread... He is amazing... Derek Rose, maybe better...
John Anthony Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Best of luck to GJ.... but this only helps UK.
