IMO, take anything you read from WND with a grain of salt. in the past two years, they seemed to take leaps head on into some of the Obama Conspiracies without doing thier reasearch. One thing they did, if I remember correctly, was actually confuse now President Obama with Senator Ellison, and mentioning Obama swearing in on the Quran.

I no more want Muslims in Obama's than I would have wanted Catholics in Ferdinand and Isabella's court.

How many on here have ever read the Qur'an, or have studied Islam? Just because we are fighting a war against a country that's mostly Muslim, doesn't mean all Muslims are terrorist. While I don't believe in Islam, it has a lot of the same values as Christianity, including the same God, and many of the same important people.

 

Key differences including:

1. They don't believe Christ was the son of God, but a prophet.

2. Muhammad said he was the last prophet, and had the keys to the religion.

3. Jihad, or Holy War. But, really thats not different that the Christian/Catholic Crusades to me.

 

Islam, is really a peaceful type of relgion and though any of us may not share Muslim beliefs I don't think it is bad to see them in the positions in the country.

You are allowed to run for a political office in America regardless of religion, race, creed or sexuality. So Islamic political candidates have just as much right to run for office as do Christians, Jews, Atheists, Zoroastorists, Buddhists, Hindus or any other type of religion.

 

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being sworn in on the text affilliated with your religion, I have no qualms about Jews being sworn in on the Torrah, Muslims being sworn in on the Quran, Hindus being sworn in on the Sruti, or Zoroastorists being sworn in on the Visperad.

 

Also, with the state of the economy and our wars abroad, people should be in office that can better those pressing issues. I don't care if you're African American, Latin American, Native American, Jewish, Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Gay or Straight; as long as you get the job done.

I think you are missing the point. The problem is not that Muslim candidates are being sworn in. Nobody cares about that. The problem is when people are being selected for positions because of their religion. If I was president and began picking only Catholics for positions because they are Catholic, surely people would have a problem and rightfully so. Having read much of the Qu'ran, its very apparent that it has some incredibly violent passages. That being said, so does the Bible. I would be careful to pass off any religion as peaceful given the track record of most world religions.

Is that just a buzz phrase or do you really mean it? If so you should be upset that a persons religious beliefs are even an issue in choosing a political appointee.

Thats what I was saying, with the Jihad. It is referring to arguments over religion, Jihad is a holy war so that all will eventually realize that God/Allah is the one true god. It is no more violent than the Bible though, like you said.

The omni-potent creator, is the same in both types of religions. God/Allah both stem from the God of Abraham, same person. Muslims don't believe in the earthy body of God as Jesus, but neither do Jewish believers. And though I believe in the Holy Trinity the part Italicized is a matter of which religion you believe in. God/Allah are the same being, but are worshiped and viewed in different ways.
