What is dangerous is people who fail to see what is going on because of their personal hatred of what we call big business. Big business has their problems, government has oversight but they failed to do their job.

 

I have seen government failure of program after program, each having the greatest of intentions. They all now have their problems because of bloated bureacracy, greed of both individuals receiving the aid that they should not receive and greed of government workers protecting their domain. Huckabee also said "How many would want to buy a car designed by the government?" Personally not me. Government needs use the powers they have to get the job done. This is not much different than those who call for more gun laws, when there are over 20,000 gun laws in the country. We need enforcement, not more laws. Big Brother needs to go away.

To be clear, are you talking about his proposal to have the govt be allowed to take over failing non-bank financial institutions? If I remember correctly, he wants to have the govt be allowed to put a failing non-bank into receivership, correct?

I got an email from someone on Thursday telling me that I need to go read Karl Marx and that Obama is a Socialist just like him and then it referenced something about democracy as an economic system.

What happens is that a law is passed and as time goes by someone in power later twists the law for their own use. Use the laws they have, they do not not need more power.

Also, are you telling me that this receivership plan is limited to the President?

Health care, putting smart thermostats in your home, asking the GM boss to step down (in reality firing him), wanting more control over business, taxing people at 90%. It is disguised as something else, but he is not going to admit to government control. It is all done for the bettering of the country. What he is doing is no different than what the militarists of Japan, the Fascists of Italy and the Nazis in Germany did in the 1920's and 30's. A little here, a little there in the name of helping the little people, when in reality everyones freedoms are being whittled away.

 

All of this would have worked out if Bush had not started all this socialistic mess last fall. The ups and downs of the business world would have taken care of it all. Only utopian elitists think they can control the natural order of the world.
