The Scribe Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 The year was 1985. This was the last time Kentucky won a true road game west of the Mississippi River. They beat Hawaii 98-65. The last time Kentucky won a game west of the Mississippi in the continental U.S. was at Kansas in 1984 (72-50)
UKMustangFan Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 That's actually pretty remarkable if you really think about it.
Original Rookie Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 That's actually pretty remarkable if you really think about it. Very interesting stat considering how good UK has been over those 25 years. I'd like to see how many games they actually played west of the Mississippi during that span.
3wishes Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 WOW, hard to believe. Were we losing all the games or was there not that many games that was played West? Is there a record anywhere of the games played W vs. L?

RondoRules Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Really? That is amazing ... Kentucky has never won at Arkansas? They won there this year....
westsider Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 They won there this year....Was that the first time?
The Scribe Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 Crap. My geography is terrible. I meant to say non-conference Division I schools. They won at Alaska Anchorage in the GAS one year. Lost at Houston in 2007 Lost bad at Kansas in 2006 and 1990

The Scribe Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 Only Alaska Anchorage and they are D-II
ColonelCrazy Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Interesting stat, whether or not it's entirely accurate. How many true road games have we played West of the Mississippi? Arkansas; Houston; Kansas... Who else? I cannot think of any teams that we've beaten; however, I'm having an equally difficult time thinking of any losses...
The Scribe Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 UK played UCLA in Anaheim one year but it wasn't at Pauley. In terms of Non-conference, D-1 schools, the road games at Creighton, Houston, Kansas, Hawaii, and UNLV (1980) have been the only games that fit this category since Rupp Arena opened in 1976. In other words, they don't go west on the road that often and win even less
