Roy is a bad safety. I know for a fact that teams pick on him. They get him into coverage and abuse him. He gets the big hit every once in a while but not worth it. He would have to come for free in order to take him. Just my opinion though.

 

Which goes back to what I said. If you are going to put him in as an every down safety then you need to lose your job. If you are going to blitz him + use him as a run support guy then he is one of the best at his position. He played his best ball under Zimmer. They tried to force him to be a cover guy and he got abused. It's like when they tried to make Vick+Young West Coast guys. You drafted those guys because they can run then you force them to do something that a lot of QB's can do. No QB's can run like those two so why waste their talent. You would think that the NFL coaches are as good as it gets but that is pretty simple!

Depends on how you scheme him up. Guys that are blitzing aren't covering unless it's a read blitz where they check if the back is in a pass route or not. The great one's like Palamolu do it all. That's why they are so unique. If you are a coach and you expect him to be an every down safety then you will get the Roy Williams that got exposed. If you are a coach and you use him like an outside LBer that doesn't have to cover deep and blitzes a lot then you have one of the better guys in the league. He's an undersized LBer IMO that's more athletic than most LBer's.

I agree in the fact that he is an undersized LB. I just think his prime has come and gone. If he were to play he needs a cover safety to play with. That safety needs to be very intelligent because he is going to be telling Roy what to do on almost every play. I just don't think he is worth it that's all.

I think the Pats are as good as it gets in using role players and he is a role player IMO. If that is what Cincy is using him for and they don't overpay then I understand. Personally I'd rather have a guy that can do it all but if they use him as a role player then I can't kill them over it. If they try to be like Dallas and make him cover deep then they deserve to loose.

I couldn't agree more with about how the Pats use there players. They are amazing at using role players. If Cincy can get him cheap and use him the right way it might me ok. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I don't know what I think about the Bengals entertaining Williams. I do know that, had Roy Williams been on the team, somebody would have hit Hines Ward.

 

A defense with an attitude & a chip on its shoulder can go a long way. Ask Joe Flacco.
