Not to be negative to any of the teams listed in the 49th, but if this is how the redistricting goes Clay Co. will be in the region tournament every year while the other districts would be competive year in year out.

As for the 14th realignment, I don't see anyway that the proposed district powerhouse of Hazard, Perry Central, Knott Co. Central, and JBS goes into effect without some major complaints from all. This would really bring down the quality of the 14th regional tournament as a whole.

For the 13th, Rockcastle Co. shares a border with Jackson Co., and one wouldn't necessarily have to drive through Laurel Co. to travel from one to the other.

Redistricting is up for the 2010-11 year. These were speculations on my part. I just tried to keep all schools from the same county in the same region.

OK, but I feel sorry for those Buckhorn fans having to drive to Harlan to play a district game. Buckhorn is only 18 miles from my home town of Booneville in Owsley County. They can be in Lexington as quick as they can be in Harlan.

I think Buckhorn will stay with Perry and Hazard.

We could send the Laurels back to the 12th and everyone would be much happier with the original 13th region....lol

London is only 12 miles from Corbin. It makes sense that they are in the same region.

There are always other agendas to be met in the re-districting of teams. So whether or not yours makes sense or not, has no bearing on what the KHSAA will do. They do what they want to do when it comes to this stuff. In the 14th, Estill and Powell need to get out, as well as Jenkins going to the 15th. Move Harlan in wouldn't be too bad either. JBS won't be around too long so they have to be ready for that too.

What about OBI and Redbird?

Just seems as though that district was too top-heavy. I definitely think Harlan Co. Central will be good in time, but are still building their tradition.

 

Eliminating two of the Hazard, PCC, KCC, & JBS combo before region would seemingly be disastrous considering that Whitesburg, Powell Co., and JBS have each had runs to Rupp, and are the only schools outside of Hazard / Perry Central to do so in the past 12 years. I think KCC's size alone makes it one of the few that can compete with Hazard and PCC (evidenced this year and last).

 

Also, if the regional sites were rotated according to district, PCC and KCC (two of the nicest facilities in the mountains & state) would be battling for the privilege of hosting.

You can't take that many teams out of the 14th. You'd have about 13 left, even with Harlan County. Jenkins will probably stay with Letcher Central even though they are close to the 15th.
