Who else misses these 4 not being in the same district? Many,many classic battles came from the these four teams over the years and they still look to be equally matched now and in the future, wish they could be re-aligned back to the same district again, even add St.Patrick. Question is what to do with Mason County. Could they be put with Boone County,Highlands,CovCath, Campbell County somehow? No way anyone has a chance ever, now or in the future with Mason County, Augusta, Bracken and St.Patrick in the same district. Surely even the Mason County fans want out of this district, what's the challenge?

I miss the "old" 38th district as well. Every year was a toss up and a battle, usually involving all 4 schools. They would NEVER leapfrog ( in the geographical sense) Mason in with NKY schools.

Ahhh, you are making me reminisce. That would be the greatest thing, and I would accept St. Pat. A serious rivalry in every game and great competition.

If you really want a district with all four to make sense geographically, you have to raid the 16th region. Here's this...

 

37th: Same

 

38th: Pendleton, Bracken, Augusta, Deming

 

39th: Mason, St. Pat, Fleming, Lewis

 

40th: Harrison, Paris, Bourbon, Clark

 

To the 16th: Montgomery

 

Now, I'm not familiar with the 16th enough to know if taking two teams for one would leave them short. I don't know if they have any 5 team districts they could rework or if they could nab a school from the 15th. Just throwing something out there.

You left out Nicholas Co. in the 40th. Though I could see your alignment with the exception of Lewis (remains in the 16th) and moving Nicholas to the 39th.

I would take that, but put Nicholas in the 40th and find another place for Clark County that is geographically close. I still would like Mason County in a Northern Kentucky district, those schools would serve as better district competition than any suggestions made so far and it's only an hour down the AA.

There has been rumblings and vague rumors of Clark Co. going to the 11th Region because of population and the close proximity to Lexington and Montgomery Co. moving to the 16th. Fleming Co. wants back in the 10th and presumably 39th District. This wouldn't happen before 2011 or 2012 season though.

You can throw competition out the window. The KHSAA looks at alignments more geographically and sometimes "politically" .

 

Do you really think that the KHSAA would bend over backwards to reassemble the OLD 38th? If this was some of the larger schools in the region maybe so. But, I don't think they would do this for Pendleton Co. and 3 small Class A schools. They just don't have the clout that the bigger boys have.

I don't think anyone would go out of their way just simply to bring back the old 38th, but the scenarios listed are ones that could happen under any general realignment.

I don't see the old 38th District being put back together, especially if Montgomery and Clark were to be re-aligned in the future, though it has been talked about adding some schools from the 9th Region to the 10th Region.
