No Jackson Co. or Generation X??? I will go with the NKY Wildcats to defend their title..

Mercer County will be very tough, they have 3 kids who started on their 10/u team from last season. Generation Next has too many grade exceptions and Jackson County does as well. Another good team not playing is North Laurel Elite. I agree, the Wildcats look to be a clear cut favorite.

Gen Next and Jackson County don't play AAU tournaments. They only play in tournaments that play by high school rules. I am pretty sure that both have 4 or 5 hold backs. I was told they do this because they get some funding through their schools. So they are not willing to ask one of the hold backs not to play one weekend. I wonder if they will play up next weekend in the U11 State? Any way should be a good weekend of basketball as always. I am surprise by only 12 teams. Last year U10 had 12D1 and 12D2 teams. This year Eric at KBA told me the NKY Wildcats was the only team to sign up D1. Where are all the teams at this age level? Please tell me not on the soccer field. Well should give the parents lots of time to lounge around the hotel pools with a few adult beverages.

In 9U last year, there were 10 teams total with no division split. So, there are two more than last year. In 10U last year, there were 18 teams total, 6 in D1 and 12 in D2.

I also pick the Wildcats to defend their championship.

Next doesn't have 4 holdbacks, just a bad AAU birthdate. Not sure about Jackson. I think alot of teams are concentrating less on AAU and more on putting together a team that could be playing together at the middle school/high school level. So many of the AAU teams pick up players from different areas. Generation Next is headed to the Fieldhouse in Indianapolis 13-15. Anyone else played there?

How did Next play in the past 2 state tournaments? It appears to me they have the same team.

Great question.

Several teams on this board have been to the Fieldhouse. The Wolfpack teams, the Omega teams. But in their age group the NK Wildcats and Wolfpack have been. They better be ready to lace them up tight when you play there. If the NBA2B is there, watch out. They are loaded and have to be a favorite to win Nationals in Lexington in July. I think I heard the Wildcats finished third in a tournament there this season. I wish them luck.

One of the kids that played with them when they played up in tournaments last year stayed back in 4th grade this year giving them an extra exemption. I am sure they were not going to ask a kid that had played with them all year to sit out just to win a tournament. One of their exemptions is not a holdback--like I mentioned earlier, he just has an August birthday.

Very athletic girl on their team. Also #20, one of their guards can shoot pretty well. Kids seem a little new to the AAU scene. So not quite use to the speed and defenses.

Did the Lexingron Colonels play in the Scott County Tourney and if so how did they do. Have not heard much about them this year.

The 4th grade Colonels didn't have a very good weekend but I think the 5th grade Colonels did pretty good. Both played at Georgetown. I think 4th grade went 0-3 in pool play. I believe they won a game in brackett play.

I know the U11 NKY Suns absolutely killed the Colonels in bracket play..Which I was very surprised by the margin they got beat..
