He officially accepted the job yesterday. Sounds like he has the backing of the school district and will build a successful program in Jackson County.

They actually got to play their first official home game last season after 2 & 1/2 seasons of playing all road games. They had a much better than expected turnout for that homegame and it appears that the community is beginning to really embrace the football program. Give them time and a good feeder program and the Generals will be okay in a few years. They have good athletes and a desire to play the game.

I don't know anything about Coach Carter. Anyone have any info? I was told he was only at Bell County this past season, is around 35 but was an assistant before. Any info?

Coach Carter has been at Bell for 2 seasons. He played on the 1991 state championship team. He went on to play college ball at Union. He has coached at Knox Central and Pineville before returning back to Bell. Hard nose guy, will work hard and expect the kids to work hard, has a good relationship with the players he coaches. Yes they had better. It will be a lot of work for those Generals to come.

Jackson Co. would be a great job for any young coach out there. Beening 2-8 3-7 2-8 is not that bad compared to some programs who had a winless season or two before a good young coach can get started turning things around.
