Corbin 66 South Laurel 58

Featured Replies

Good win for the Hounds. It would not surprise me to see these two battle it out in the regional finals for the third year in a row. South played well. Corbin played well in spurts. Great game to watch for the fans of the 50th district. St. John had 25 and Johnson 26 and Crawford 17 for the Hounds. Aaron Manns had 11, Wilson 6 and Smith 6. I want to say Dean had 13 and Smith 10 for the Cards. Good luck to both teams in the region.

Thanks Bubba for the info. I think that these two teams will be in the finals once again. I feel for who ever draws SL, their season will be over.

Don't think Elam can get them to the finals. Just my opinion though

He may not but Cody Miller just may the way he has been playing of late. I expect to see South and Corbin battle again when all is said and done.

Did anyone else here that this was one of the Refs first game of the year? Dont get me wrong it was a great game but in my opinion there was a few miscalls in the last 3 to 4 mins of the game.

I think they missed some walks and one goal tend as well. It was an even called game, neither side can complain and both teams had a chance to win in the final minutes. That is about all you can ask.

There were many missed calls on both ends so they kind of take care of themselves. There was one particular ref who spent way too much time talking to the coach from SL before during and after each whistle. I know coach Wright likes to "work" the refs (I'd do the same) but it sure gives the opposing team and fans the wrong perception when the ref seems to cater to his every gesture.

I wonder if games would flow smoother if the officals in the region would only call the game and not talk to the coaches or players, report the fouls after running to the table, promptly inbound the ball on time outs and quarters, return the ball to the foul shooter without delay. I would dare say it would shorten the game by 15 to 30 minutes easily. Too much dead time. Watch games in the state tourney, college and the 12th and 11th regions.

Has anyone beat Corbin in the 13th other than South Laurel?

I like the way the officiating is done in the state tourney. The calls are made and no refs going over to bench having to explain why he made the call or non call...unlike it was last night in the District final.

Knox Central at KC earlier in the season.

The refs clearly was not going to let South win. There was too much talent

on that floor last night to let it become a ref show. South Laurel is the real

deal IMO:notworthy::notworthy:

We shall see about that. Too good of a game to blame officals.

I dont understand your comment. Are you saying that somehow the refs all decided prior to the game that Corbin would be the chosen team last night?

All three were veteran officials that probably called 40+ games this season. All 3 have a lot of regional experience as well. Thought it was very evenly called and that they "communicated" evenly with the coaches. Felt both teams got breaks. I have ties to neither school, just there to watch a good game, don't lessen the win for Corbin by blaming the refs. SL had several chances down the stretch to tie but shot themselves in the foot at least 3 times, turnover, useless foul, missed gimme, turnover...
