Boone County held on to win a great 33rd District final.

Boone was led by J. Davis with 18 points, Ryle was led by Jenna Crittendon with 14 points.

Congrats to Boone. Experience still triumphs over youth.

Good job by the Lady Rebs. Bradley was definitely the difference in the game with her ability to drive and dish. I was very impressed with the tenacity of Ryle with a crew of 8-9-10 graders taking on a more experienced team. Region will be interesting with these 2 teams, Birds, NC and NDA all trying to cut the nets down. Good luck to all of these fine teams and coaches.

I would kinda disagree with ya there about the youth thing. Ryle has problems when they face a good post player. J. Davis got them for 18 last night. Earlier in the year when Moss was there Highlands B. Towles put up 19 most of which I believe were in the paint and had 15 rebounds. If Davis or Towles are playing for Ryle this year they stand a great chance to win the region. Ryle's achilles heel is not their youth it's really the lack of a bigger skilled post player. Ryle could have had 5 seniors on the court last night and they would not have won that game. I like Ryle’s program and players. They are one bigger, unselfish, fundamentally sound post player away from hanging a banner in that school. By the way this is no way a shot at the young lady playing that position now for Ryle. I think she is only an eighth or ninth grader. She way very well become the type of post player I mentioned above. My comments were about Ryle’s immediate needs in order to win the regional tournament this year.

Do you mean a post player who could average 15 PPG and 10 RPG playing out of position much of the time? A post player who also would average more assists per game than any of the guards on the team and have an assist to turnover ratio better than any of the guards? A post player who actually had 11 assists in a single game? A post player who could actually match Towles 19 and 15 (actual rebound number in Ryle game) with a 19 and 14 of her own?

What about the 2 seed coming out of the 36th district! Ouch to the 1 seed who draws that district.

Two losers will be easy marks for victory in the first round, and two will be tough battles. The draw will be very important as usual. Winner from the 34th will not win the first round unless they are lucky enough to draw the loser from the 35th. Then, it would be an even battle.

Agreed. Considering Ryle took HHS to OT and recently beat NCC & ND...they are dangerous. Their 2/3 zone may come back to haunt them on the big floor though.

Agreed. Boone and Highlands are the two favorites IMO. The larger court at BOK may help a team that likes to run like Ryle but you are correct about zone play being a little different on the larger court, too. I really only give 4 teams a realistic shot - Boone, Highlands, NC and Ryle - NDA would be a very remote 5th team with a shot. Will be fun to watch. Gotta love h.s. tourney play where love of the game and hours of commitment end up in the temporary thrill of victory and agony of defeat.

NDA defeated Ryle and Boone earlier in the season. To say that they are a remote 5th team with a shot is a reach. They still start 5 seniors. They played awfully well against Holmes and were leading Sacred Heart (a top 10 team in the state) halfway through the 3rd quarter last weekend. Experience makes a difference this time to year!!!
