It was about what it has been about all season, Brooke Keeton's inability to deal with her temper. She got fouled on a shot, and after the foul was called, she pushed the Russell player with her shoulder. Good call by the official.

You are right, she has more opportunity that a lot of players in the area, and with her height, she could easily play college ball, but if she doesn't get the stuff between her ears straight, she is going to throw it all away.

Where were you sitting Ram? Even some of the Russell folk thought the T was a little much. Besides, Keeton's intensity on the court is one of her assets.. and intense players, male and female, get fired up sometimes.

 

And as for coaches, very class-less on the Ram side to accuse the young Lady Rams of not playing team ball in the newspaper Aspects of team ball are ingrained in practice; communication on the floor, court awareness, help defense, passing and assists. Coaches should take responsibility for their own inadequacies and not make young girls the scapegoats.

 

Congrats to the Lady Devils.. they played hard and deserved to win. Good luck against Lewis.

I was in the third row. She got the technical, fast, for her reputation for doing those things. Referees have a pretty good memory about such things. She pushed the Russell player, well after the foul was called, in fact one official was on his way to the scores table to assess the foul, when it occurred and the other official called the technical.

 

I will make one statement about the other part of your post, and then I will leave it alone. The one comment made by Coach Trimble was meant toward Brooke Keeton, and Brooke Keeton only, that is the "individual" that he was talking about. I like Brooke, and I think she could be a great player, but she has to learn to put the team first, and her emotions second. That is why she set the bench well into the fourth quarter, when her team needed her. You can't put the blame of how a player acts on the court on the coach, she was suspended for one game by the KHSAA for such acts, and suspended by the coaching staff an additional game to try to teach her a lesson, but it still didn't work. I think the coaching staff did their part to teach her, now it is up to her. Her actions, her responsibility, her accountability.

Congratulations to Russell and best of luck in the future for the seniors on both sides of this competition!

The absolute worst thing to happen to a team is trying to spell it with an "I".

She shouldnt had done what she did. But I dont think she played selfish last night. She was diving for loose balls and going hard for every rebound. What hurt Raceland was that they didnt attack Russells press. Rams would pass backwards too much and then would try the long diagonal pass and have it intercepted.Turnovers is without a doubt why Raceland lost. This was a problem all season long. Work on ball handling before next season and I think the Lady Rams can be one of the better teams next season.

Intensity is most definitely an asset, as long as it is CONTROLLED intensity. Four technicals in five games doesn't show much self-control, and that cannot be blamed on the coaches.

Keeton was ejected from the Greenup Co. game, and did not play against Ashland per KHSAA rules. She WAS NOT suspended from any other games related to the GC incident. One ejection and two Ts in the last 10 games, not five. Any one who has watched her play knows she is not selfish on the floor.

 

Are we really attempting to blame 14 losses on one player who occassionally got frustrated? You want accountability.. why aren't the coaches accountable?

I watched the game from behind the Russell bench. I'm not going to get involved in the argument about Brooke Keeton. But, I'll just say this, I've told my son this for as long as he's played any kind of sports. "Everytime you put the uniform on, regardless of the sport, if you don't respect the game, the game will not respect you." My point is this, Brooke has tons of talent. I understand that emotions run deep on the court. The desire to win sometimes let those emotions get you in trouble unless you control them. If you don't control them, this is when the game loses respect for you and makes you look like the bad guy or girl. So Brooke, use the talent that's been given to you. You're as smooth in the paint as I've seen. Just remember to respect the game and I promise in the end, the game in return will respect you!! Good-luck.:thumb:
