chuckbarkley99 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Where oh where has 3 seconds gone. Has it gone the way of the hula hoop and the yo-yo, how about the rubiks cube. I have seen 0 3 seconds called in my own 24 games and the 12 other games I've seen!
close talker Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 It's never called, it should it cleans up the game.
Clyde Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 This, too, is one of those rules that people don't truly understand. While there are obviously a few times its missed more often than not when a coach or fan is yelling for it, they're wrong.
NDFan4Ever Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 If a player is making a move to the basket, there is no three second count.
Chosen_One Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 This is a rule that should be called more. I love it when your team gets called for it, you get mad because you think it's a dumb rule, but if another teams player is camping in the lane, you DEMAND it to be called!
chuckbarkley99 Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 I'm talking about posting up with both feet in the lane for 8 to 10 seconds without so much as a warning.
Mustang Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I'm talking about posting up with both feet in the lane for 8 to 10 seconds without so much as a warning.Isn't that a bit extreme???
chuckbarkley99 Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 A bit extreme or not its a fact. Maybe its different in your area but not here. I see players spending entire possessions in the paint. Makes for an ugly game. THe thing is, if you call it one time it usually is no longer a problem.
atm10 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Misunderstood rule and most of the time those yelling don't have a clue. Most officials will try and talk players out of the paint before calling 3 seconds. Most officials don't want to call this "GI" (game interrupter) as it kills the flow of game. Question from previous post would be is it possible to legally be in the paint for 8 to 10 seconds?

chuckbarkley99 Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 Yea, that made a lot of sense.
Slemac90 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 atm....Was the earlier poster correct in saying that if a player is driving to the basket the 3 second count if off? Please expand. Thanks for your insight!
