I wonder about seating... reserving? Last night there was a section in the lower arena that was "reserved" for "School officials." Only about 20 seats were reserved, and most went unoccupied for the evening. I was under the assumption that since all tickets were sold as "General Admission" and a first come, first served basis that if I were to be first in line, I would get first choice of seats.

Will there be a larger section "reserved" for school officials tonight?

If East Carter is "reserving" seats for their "school officials" then they need to be reserved on their own side of the court. Personally . . . I felt it was an intentional placement to restrict the seating available for the teams assigned to the visitors side of the court.

IMO . . . at tournament time, you can show no favoritism to one team over the other and if you wish to reserve seating, then do it in your assigned section(s).

I agree.... the seats were "reserved" at mid-court on the "Visiting" side. Assuming East fans sit on the traditional "home" side, then there will likely be seats taken from the Elliott side tonight. I don't know though.

I wonder how others would have reacted if Elliott had reserved some seating last year during districts. West Carter never sets aside seating for school officials. I am not sure about Morgan.

Again, all seats are sold as General Admission.

The reserved section was right where Mr. Holbrook has a lifetime reserved seat.

That is just wrong during tourney time.

The reserved section was right where Mr. Holbrook has a lifetime reserved seat.

Elliott County fans are a very respectful group of individuals and have no problem whatsoever honoring the lifetime reserved seating for this individual but the reserving of the 20-30 seats around this 1-2 seats should be in direct violation of the courtesy/honor extended to ALL the schools who participate in the district tournaments. As the "host" school, courtesies above and beyond the normal and routine ones should be extended to any visiting team. The host school assigns the sides of they gym (without consideration to "home" or "visitor" status) and if they wish to reserve specific seating for individuals, can do so on their side of the gymnasium. These actions and behaviors should be corrected by the AD's involved across the district.

I am only complaining IF an entire section (by that I mean dozens of seats) is "reserved." How many seats does this Mr. Holbrook need?

I have no problem having him a seat saved. I hope he enjoys watching his grandsons play. He deserves it!

... you know what though? There are grandparents from other schools too.

The seats saved during the District Tournament is for ALL school officials in the district (Athletic Directors, Principals, Superintendents) and their families throughout the tournament. There are not 20-30 seats saved either. Other than 2 seats that have always been saved for Mr. Holbrook, there were 16 additional seats that are saved for the school officials and their families. Also I am sure it was taken into consideration that the reason for the seats being on the opposing side of the benches was so everyone wouldn't have to go around the chairs and scores table. As Jim Calhoun said the other day to the media, "Get your facts straight"

I wouldn't think this would be a big deal to some......

16+2=18 . . . would then be rounded to 20!! I don't think my "guestimation" was too far off the mark. And being saved for "all" schools officials . . . I guess you can cut the number drastically because the Elliott County school officials/families would rather sit with the fans instead of receiving special treatment. I don't remember this practice ever having been utilized in any of the past 3 years when the other schools were hosting the tournament either.

But your rounding went to 30 which is no where near the amount of seats saved. I don't remember it ever being utilized either but at least some have the courtesy to think about others. You're complaining over 15 seats in a gym that sits over 1,000 where there isn't a bad seat in the gym.

The school officials aren't receiving a special treatment, I consider it being thoughtful to the ones who are responsible for allowing us to play this game tonight.

I'm not trying to argue with you, I just think you're wrong.:thumb:

The seats reserved for school officials is for all schools officials not just East Carter officials. I agree I think it was a nice gesture. I also think (don't know for sure) was brought up at the district meeting as well.

I would have thought the individuals responsible for playing the game would be the ballplayers.

It was nice to see 2 Elliott County school officials sitting in the 18 reserved seats tonight.

We'd still be deciding who played who without school officials!! :thumb::sssh:
