Warren Central 71 Allen County-Scottsville 54

Featured Replies

AC/S had a string of calls that went against them in the second quarter, one them a frustration technical, and their composure snapped and that was all she wrote in this one. Central is just plain better than them, but they never had a chance once they mentally snapped in that second quarter.

It looks like Warren Central is moving toward their 7th regional title in 8 years. Impressive!

Is Shanklin still injured?

^ Yeah, and I'm beginning to think he's not coming back. For the first 10-11 days after he fractured it he didn't use crutches and was still walking on it, so apparently it got worse, or so I've heard. Since then I've seen him only in crutches (including last night), and for the first couple of games in that timespan he had an air cast. I don't know what the healing time is for a stress fracture, but he began getting on crutches the week of February 2nd, so it's been just over two weeks since that time rather than the month it has been since he first injured it.

Not a suprise to see ACS lose their composure. They're pretty bad about doing that. How did Bunton and Hayes do? I'm assuming the Dragons gave them fits?

I'd say they gave Bunton fits. He got in early foul trouble and came unhinged. He threw down a couple of dunks, which is to be expected. If he's in close, he pretty much looks to do that every time. But he picked up his third foul with 5:30 left in the second quarter (for which I blame his coach as much as him), and had nearly picked up a technical already. He's athletic, but against an athletic team, he has nothing to set himself apart.

Hayes did fine, especially on defense. I wouldn't say Central gave him fits, but he is usually woefully underutilized offensively. I wouldn't have a single possession that he didn't get a touch on, and I would also tell him that he is not to under any circumstances shoot a three pointer (which he did - and I have seen him hit that sometimes) or a shot more than 10 feet out. That's not his game, and I don't really care if he sometimes hits them. He's their primary rebounder and post player, and if he is shooting the outside shot, who rebounds if he misses?

IMO, their lack of composure is a reflection of their coach. He, like Sherrill before him, are very outspoken, very fiery, and their teams reflect that. As a result, they have very little discipline and an inability to handle extreme pressure. Hayes got himself ejected a couple of games ago because after picking up one tech he came over and kicked over chairs on the bench.

I totally agree with that statement. I believe the Patriots could probably play with anyone in the region easily if they'd just keep their cool and play smart ball. They did that their first game with Glasgow and won by about 4. However, the second game between the two Glasgow won by 20+ points. ACS simply came unglued and got very aggrivated. Your not going to win many games with a hot head.

I dont think Shelton will be there after this year, maybe the next. Not that they will fire him, he got the job because of who he is there, but has obligations with his family and they are moving. Look for Shane Buttry(Madison Southern) to be the next coach, but he is pretty hot headed as well.

That is just incredible.

^ Well, it hasn't happened yet, but yeah, it would be incredible.

Hope Shelton stays, dont want Shane to leave. He just built a house anyway.
