Mason County with their first big statement win of the season. They just flat out out-played Paris.

Butler blocks the 3 point attempt as time expires.

Mason improves to 8-18, Paris falls to 11-14.

Mason has Montgomery County on Friday.

Hinkson got her points, but almost all were from the FT line; only two field goals for the game. Much of the credit for that goes to Hillary Doyle.

Butler played a nice floor game for the Lady Royals tonight, as did Moran. Keller Menke had a real nice bounce-back game with 23 points, including a couple of crucial FTs down the stretch.

The difference of this game really was the field-goal percentage. Mason shoots around 44% at the half, around 40% for the game. Paris really struggled, but still managed to keep it close otherwise.

If Mason plays like this next Tuesday against St. Pat, they could very easily be in the district finals.

If you're somebody that thinks that comparing wins and losses against the same teams really works, then here's an interesting bit.

Bracken County beat Paris by 4. St. Pat loses to Paris by 3. Mason County beats Paris by 3. Bracken beats Mason by 1, but loses to St. Pat by 11 and 9. St. Pat beats Mason by 6.

Should play out to be an interesting district, huh?

If the Lady Royals play defense like they did tonight, and value the basketball/make FTs down the stretch, definitely.

Wow dont go out on the limb too far

What? If you don't recall, Bracken beat Mason during the season. Yes, it was early, but they are still the favorite against them until proven otherwise, and Bracken has played two close games with St. Pat.

Don't criticize for making opinions.

From Danny Weddle's Blog:

The Mason County Lady Royals pulled out a 49-46 win over the Paris Lady Hounds tonight at home. Mason County led 27-18 at the half, but was outscored 12-2 in the third quarter. After Paris guard Talaken Myers hit a three-pointer to put the Lady Hounds up 43-41 with 2:45 left, Mason County answered with six straight points to take the lead for good. Paris had a chance to tie the game in the closing seconds, but McKenzie Butler blocked one three-point shot and the Lady Hounds missed another long shot. Keller Menke led Mason County with a double-double, 23 points and 10 rebounds. Paris was led by Emily Hinkson who also had a double-double, 14 points and 13 rebounds. Mason County closes out the regular season Friday night at Montgomery County.

^ Yes it will. Three of the four teams have a legitimate shot to win. No knock on Augusta, but I think we can all agree that thy're the decided underdog.

I have said all season, though, that the Lady Saints are the team to beat.
